Description

We are seeking a Senior Vehicle Safety Test Engineer to support vehicle development, regulatory certification, and consumer safety testing programs. This role will be responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing crash and sled tests while ensuring compliance with global safety standards.

The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with engineering, CAE, and test teams to deliver high-quality safety performance results within program timelines.

Location: Newark, CA
Duration: 12 Months
Pay: $39.00 an hour
Responsibilities:
  • Lead execution, analysis, and reporting of crash, sled, and component-level safety tests
  • Own Vehicle Safety attribute performance, ensuring compliance with passive safety regulations and consumer requirements
  • Develop and manage safety test plans, including budget, resources, and timing (DVP)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for program safety testing activities and stakeholder communication
  • Present test results and program updates to senior leadership and engineering teams
  • Define and align passive safety targets in collaboration with Safety Performance and leadership teams
  • Support conceptual design of structural, interior, exterior, and restraint systems to meet safety targets
  • Conduct proof-of-concept and validation testing for new designs and features
  • Coordinate with CAE teams to align simulation and physical test activities
  • Manage preparation, execution, and teardown of vehicle and component tests
  • Ensure all test articles meet design intent and quality standards
  • Partner with external test labs and suppliers to ensure compliance with procedures, regulations, and best practices
  • Perform post-test analysis, identify performance gaps, and recommend improvements
  • Lead root cause investigations and drive corrective actions across cross-functional teams
  • Author detailed engineering reports and documentation for all testing activities
  • Support and coordinate technicians to ensure high-quality builds, rebuilds, and test readiness
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience with high voltage.
  • Minimum 5 years experience with crash testing and safety for vehicle
  • Minimum 5 years experience with rebuilding cars
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Deep understanding of crash safety regulations and consumer testing protocols
  • Experience with high-voltage (HV) systems in electric vehicles
  • Familiarity with global homologation and certification requirements
  • Experience with high-speed and quasi-static testing environments
