The Oliver laboratory at Duke University are seeking a highly-motivated and qualified individual for the position of Research Technician I. This position is for an individual who will broadly help with lab management tasks and research projects in the Oliver lab.

This research technician position involves both experimental research and lab management responsibilities. The successful candidate will work both independently and under direct supervision from the principal investigator as necessary. The technician will be directed as to which projects to pursue, methods to employ, and receive any necessary training for new techniques, but will be expected to complete a number of experiments without requiring immediate supervision.

Minimum Requirements:



  • B.S. or B.A. in basic biosciences-related major



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Animal handling experience preferred



This position is:



  • Onsite. The work is performed on-site or at a designated assignment location.

  • Performing and assisting with mouse-related experiments including microCT imaging, drug administration, tumor induction, and dissections.
  • Wet-lab research involving tissue culture and mouse models investigating mechanisms of squamous and/or small cell lung cancer and/or sinonasal cancer biology.
  • Communication and collaboration with lab members toward the goals above, including participation in one-on-one, small group, and lab-related meetings and journal clubs.
  • Presentation of data and objectives in written and oral forms, including documents, spreadsheets, presentations and other reports.
  • Receiving training and potential training of lab members and/or visiting researchers in lab-related processes and/or experimental techniques.
  • Organizational tasks associated with setting up the Oliver Lab and individual training, including but not limited to: equipment set-up, ordering supplies, preparation of organizational documents, software, and systems, participation in mouse, biosafety, and training protocols, etc.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Principal Investigator

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $18.00 to USD $26.49.
