This is an in-person position 5 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Assist with Information Systems Tasks: Support basic planning and routine administration of IT systems under close supervision. Learn foundational concepts and follow guidance from senior staff.
- Follow Procedures to Troubleshoot Simple IT Issues: Use established checklists and instructions to help resolve straightforward hardware, software, or network problems. Escalate complex issues to more experienced team members.
- Provide Basic End-User Support: Help users with common software and hardware questions, set up new equipment as directed, and document issues using standard forms. Always seek help for unfamiliar problems.
- Document and Escalate Incidents: Record incident details accurately and promptly using provided templates. Refer unresolved or complex incidents to senior staff.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis: Contribute to discussions about recurring issues and learn how to identify basic causes. Suggest follow-up actions with guidance from supervisors.
- Install and Configure Software with Guidance: Assist in installing and updating software or applying patches to workstations and devices, following step-by-step instructions. Learn about maintaining the Microsoft Security stack.
- Monitor System Performance: Perform routine checks and basic tests on IT systems to help ensure security and reliability. Report any unusual findings to senior staff.
- Support Process Improvements: Share observations about daily tasks and suggest small improvements. Learn about divisional practices and how processes are updated.
- Identify Policy Violations: Learn to recognize and report clear violations of organizational policies, always consulting with supervisors before taking action.
- Assist with Risk Mitigation: Help apply patches and support hardware lifecycle activities as directed, learning how these actions reduce risk.
- Learn Basic Scripting for Automation: Begin learning scripting technologies (such as PowerShell) to support simple automation tasks, with training and supervision.
- Contribute to Documentation Efforts: Participate in creating and updating enterprise-wide documentation by providing feedback and helping with basic tasks.
- Stay Informed on Technologies: Regularly review updates and new technologies introduced in the organization, focusing on those relevant to entry-level responsibilities.
- Demonstrate Customer Service and Problem-Solving: Show a positive attitude, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively to resolve basic issues. Ask questions and seek feedback to improve skills.
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Network Security from an institute of technology or university is required.
- Microsoft Server systems certifications such as Microsoft MCP, A+, Network+ are valued
- Alternatively, a combination of equivalent training and experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of Microsoft security platforms, EDR, IPS, Next Gen Firewalls, IAM, PKI, encryption, and tokenization.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train and advise staff on a variety of IT technologies.
- Demonstrate basic to intermediate scripting knowledge and skills with PowerShell
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a time-critical production environment
