Division of Information Technology Job Description
Provide tier 1 and 2 IT support to research facilities at MU. Troubleshoot hardware/software problems and system failures. Determine and initiate appropriate and immediate actions needed to restore normal services with minimal down time. Communicate status, cause, and resolution of problem to end-users in a timely manner. Work with hardware and software vendors to diagnose and correct problems. Provide excellent and courteous customer service to faculty, staff and students. Work independently and as part of a larger IT team. Duties include, but are not limited to: Provide superior customer service to our faculty, staff, and students in person and via remote support tools. Interact daily with university staff to help them achieve their goals. Use standard tools to provide clear professional communication via remote session, email, phone calls, and face to face interactions. Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues at NextGen Precision Health Building. Setup, install and support hardware/software configurations. Hardware includes desktop machines, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other miscellaneous hardware and lab instrumentation. Software includes OS (Windows 11, macOS, iPadOS, Android), MS Office, and several other system-wide and local applications and vended laboratory systems. Provide basic local area network and wireless support by: investigating, determining severity, resolving, or appropriately escalating various network systems problems; troubleshooting network-related problems and compatibility of devices; and working with the network team to assist in providing support and back up as needed. Provide applications / software support by: providing specialized support for University supported email applications, second tier support on approved software and applications, and integrate different computing systems for faculty, staff, and students if possible and when necessary. Install, configure, and upgrade software not fully supported by standard tools. Provide one-on-one consulting to faculty, staff, and students in the use of operating system software, supported applications, connectivity to campus networks and servers, and in resolution of complex hardware and software problems. Administrative duties include: creating, planning, testing, implementing and documenting IT projects to better serve faculty, staff, and student needs. Assist with IT compliance regarding software, site-licensed software, or applications. Maintain advanced knowledge of new products, upgrades, and technologies. Shift
Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma required. Experience with broad range of LAN and device knowledge, skills and expansive knowledge of device/workstation hardware/software/operating systems. In depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. Strong customer service skills. Ability to lift and maneuver 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications
A+ certification, Experience with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems, computer management systems such as Configuration Manager and JAMF, Active Directory and Group Policy would be desirable. Experience in an Enterprise level IT environment. Excellent customer service and communications skills. Anticipated Hiring Range
