Position Summary The University of New Mexico School of Medicine Neurology Department seeks an epileptologist to join our neurology team in an open rank, clinician educator track position, who is dedicated to clinical care and building a robust clinical practice. You will be part of a team of faculty who provide high quality epilepsy care in inpatient and outpatient settings at UNM Hospital (UNMH). UNMH has the only NAEC level 4 accredited Comprehensive Epilepsy Center in the state. We have the only epilepsy surgery program, epilepsy monitoring unit, neuromodulation program, and ICU video EEG monitoring program in New Mexico. Our epileptologists work with a multidisciplinary team including a functional neurosurgeon with expertise in epilepsy surgery and dbs, neuropsychologists, learners, and APPs. Clinical responsibilities include outpatient epilepsy clinic, inpatient EMU coverage and reading of both inpatient and outpatient adult EEGs. Academic responsibilities include participation in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and research activities of the department. The successful candidate is a dedicated educator and clinician who has excellent communications skills and the ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams. About The University of New Mexico Neurology Department: The University of New Mexico is the only academic medical center in the state that is associated with a medical school. The Department of Neurology has 44 full-time and part-time faculty members and is home to well-established adult and child residencies, an epilepsy fellowship and multiple other fellowship programs. About Albuquerque, New Mexico: Albuquerque is a beautiful city with the 10,000 ft Sandia Mountains to the east and mesa desert to the west. The beautiful high desert environment provides more than 310 days of sunshine and the variety of all four seasons. Temperatures rarely get to 100F in the summer with humidity running in the teens. It is ideal for outdoor activities and sports year-round including running, hiking, biking and skiing. Albuquerque is 1 hour from Santa Fe, NM and 2.5 hours from Taos, NM, both world famous for their art and culture. New Mexico is multicultural and diverse with 19 indigenous native pueblos, the Navajo reservation and three Apache tribal lands.
