Position Summary

Performs office support and community engagement activities for the UNM Continuum of Care Project while contributing lived experience to improve accessibility, training, and inclusive practices. This role is intentionally designed to be accessible and supportive for self-advocates, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The position combines structured office tasks with opportunities to share lived experience insights, support disability education efforts, and help create a more inclusive service environment. Training, task customization, and workplace accommodations are available and encouraged.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Greet visitors and provide directions in a welcoming and respectful manner
  • Answer phones or assist with alternative communication methods (scripts, visual supports, or assistive tech as needed)
  • Assist with data entry, document preparation, and basic office organization with training provided
  • Maintain simple logs, files, or records using accessible systems
  • Support community engagement and accessibility initiatives through lived experience input
  • Participate in trainings, presentations, or educational activities as a self-advocate (with preparation support)
  • Assist with scheduling meetings or appointments using accessible tools and reminders
  • Help organize office materials and supplies (task modifications available)
  • Collaborate with staff and partners to improve accessibility and inclusive practices
  • Perform job duties that are clearly defined and aligned with the employee's strengths and support needs

Conditions of Employment
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.


Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Lived experience and/or understanding of the disability community
  • Ability to interface with the public, learners and individuals with disabilities.
  • Willingness to learn office skill with structured training and support Organizational skills with use of reminders, checklists, or assistive tools


  • Ability to collaborate respectfully with diverse staff, learners, and community members
  • Comfort asking questions and requesting accommodations when needed
  • Basic computer or assistive technology use (training provided)
