Overview

The Permitting Specialist manages the process of securing legal, environmental, and construction permits. They will submit, track, and ensure compliance for project applications while maintaining detailed, up-to-date documentation.



Responsibilities

    Manage and track project permits from initiation through approval process.
  • Maintain permit logs, support documentation, and resolve permitting issues to keep projects on schedule.
  • Assist environmental team in evaluating/screening potential site locations and define/execute environmental due diligence activities.
  • Perform environmental regulatory assessments of projects to define and secure environmental permits/approvals including development of an environmental permitting strategy.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, interact with internal/external stakeholders, negotiate with regulatory authorities and create appropriate project/operational documentation.
  • Build and maintain projects across all environmental media (air, water, waste, drinking water) to comply with environmental regulations, permit requirements, internal policies and standards for project site construction activities and operations.


Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, namely biology, land planning, environmental science/engineering, or environmental law/policy or related field.
  • Approximately 2-6 years of experience in environmental regulatory permitting and/or operational compliance support with knowledge/involvement in all media, e.g., air, water, waste.
  • Experience with power distribution, oil and gas, electrical and/or power plant permitting, required.
  • Experience in completing due diligence activities (e.g., Phase I/II ESAs, environmental desktop screening, ROW coordination, cultural/biological/wetlands surveys, permit matrix development, etc.), required.
  • Experience with defining and securing environmental permits, approvals, and regulatory requirements for facilities, required.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills along with project management skills and a work process orientation.

  • Experience in providing training on key quality and regulatory compliance information.

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Pay range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
