Position Summary:


The Maintenance Mechanic has the skill and ability to troubleshoot, maintain and repair all factory machinery


Performs a variety of technical tasks related to facility maintenance. Responsibilities are to observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair. Read manuals and order proper parts. Perform PM's during off hours. Assemble and test machines to verify correction of malfunction.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, welding, cutting and screw pipe knowledge is a plus
  • Operation and Maintenance of Gas and Oil-fired boiler.
  • Servicing and maintaining equipment including dry kilns, motors, conveyor systems, transmission systems, Air compressors and production-related equipment.
  • Inspecting and maintenance of the fire protection system.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns on facility equipment pumps, sinks, door closers, dock doors, dock plates and lighting system.
  • Adjusting mechanical parts using hand and machine tools.
  • Preventive Maintenance on lumber forklifts and production equipment.
  • Conducting routine maintenance and safety checks on the building and all building system.
  • Communicating with the production team and maintaining a clean efficient work area.
  • Preparing and submitting maintenance reports.
  • Candidate must be comfortable working at heights above 60 feet
  • On call as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • High School or Trade School diploma and trade experience required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related facilities maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of building trades, cleaning procedures and maintenance.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and practices
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle stress in high pressure environment.
  • Be creative in solving problems and looking for alternative options.
  • Ability to work efficiently, effectively with a sense of urgency.


  • Ability to interface with associates at all levels of the organization.
  • Be highly responsive and detail oriented, with excellent follow through.



Compensation:


The hourly rate for this position ranges from $25 to $35, depending on experience.
