What You Bring to the Table as a Lead CNC Machinist

• High school diploma or GED required
• 5-8 years of machine shop experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Prior leadership or lead-level experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of CNC and manual machining operations
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications
• Experience with tooling setup, process optimization, and quality inspection
• Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot machining and production issues
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and manage multiple priorities

Responsibilities

• Lead and support machinists and machine operators by assigning daily tasks and coordinating shop floor activities
• Operate CNC and manual machines to produce parts according to blueprints, specifications, and work instructions
• Support production scheduling, workload balancing, and short-term planning to meet delivery goals
• Collaborate with programming, tooling, and leadership teams to set up, prove out, and optimize new and existing parts
• Drive continuous improvement and support automation initiatives, including lights-out and unattended machining
• Select, set up, and adjust tooling to ensure efficient and accurate machining processes
• Perform in-process and final quality inspections to ensure parts meet specifications
• Troubleshoot machining issues and support process, tooling, and throughput improvements
• Conduct routine machine maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, basic upkeep) to ensure equipment reliability
• Coordinate shift handoffs, communicating machine status, workload updates, and priority orders
• Promote a safe, accountable, and team-oriented shop culture aligned with operational goals
