Position Title: Intern- Undergraduate

Position Summary:

Provide exposure and insight into the aligned department through hands-on daily business interaction with internal and external department business partners. The Internship role will provide qualified individuals with the opportunity to apply their education and skills in a professional environment while collaborating on strategic departmental related projects. Performs all other duties as assigned. Implements and performs according to the TDECU standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an active member of the assigned team, supporting internal stakeholders and, where applicable, members or partners through timely, professional communication via email, phone, virtual meetings, or in person.

  • Develop a working knowledge of department functions, tools, products, services, and workflows to better understand business priorities and stakeholder needs.

  • Assist team leaders and individual contributors with daily and weekly activities such as research, analysis, documentation, reporting, presentation development, process improvement, and project coordination.

  • Contribute to defined projects or workstreams aligned to team goals, with expectations for quality deliverables, follow through, and continuous learning.

  • Participate in meetings, planning sessions, and (where relevant) onsite visits or cross functional collaboration opportunities to gain broader organizational exposure.

  • Utilize applicable systems and tools (e.g., spreadsheets, databases, learning platforms, CRM systems, or project management tools) to support work, track progress, and document outcomes.

  • Gain foundational knowledge of business performance measures, metrics, and key indicators relevant to the department, including how success is defined, measured, and reported.

  • Complete all required compliance, risk, security, and training activities within designated timeframes, including adherence to TDECU policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

  • Maintain awareness of changes to internal processes, services, or priorities that impact the team's work.

  • Represent TDECU professionally and positively in internal interactions and, when applicable, external or community related activities.

Program Capstone & Presentation

  • At the conclusion of the internship, prepare and deliver an end of program presentation to leaders and peers summarizing:

  • Key business problems or opportunities addressed

  • Projects or initiatives supported and outcomes achieved

  • Insights gained about the business, team, or function

  • Skills developed and lessons learned

  • Recommendations or observations for future improvement, where appropriate

  • Demonstrate the ability to synthesize information, communicate clearly, and reflect on the impact of work completed during the program.

Learning & Development Focus

  • Build professional skills such as communication, problem solving, collaboration, planning, and time management.

  • Increase understanding of how a financial services organization operates and how different business functions work together.

  • Apply classroom learning to real world business challenges in a structured, supportive environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in pursuit of a Bachelors of Business Administration or another related degree from an accredited university.

  • Prefer a GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Prefer Junior or Senior but will consider other class levels.

Experience:

  • 1 to 2 years of completed course work in a related field.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with data tools preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong MS Office skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills and organizational skills.

  • Ability to interact with confidential information on a professional level.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities.

  • Strong team orientation and the ability to work independently with professional follow-through on projects as assigned.

  • Adherence to all TDECU standards including professional dress code.

  • Our company offers a dynamic hybrid work arrangement, which requires three days of on-site work, in the Houston, TX office.
