Overview

Job Title: Total Rewards Manager

Department: Accounting

Reports to: Director of Payroll

Direct Reports: Total Rewards Coordinator

FLSA Status: Exempt

The Total Rewards Manager provides strategic leadership over Bancrofts employee benefits programs while supporting the design and execution of the organizations compensation strategy. This role is responsible for ensuring that total rewards offerings are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals, while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Total Rewards Manager partners crossfunctionally with leadership, payroll, HR, and external vendors to drive operational excellence, enhance the employee experience, and optimize benefits and compensation programs in support of the organizations overall business strategy.



Responsibilities

1. Benefits Strategy & Program Management

a. Design, develop, and implement comprehensive benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, leave policies, and voluntary benefits.

b. Ensure benefits offerings remain competitive by analyzing industry trends and benchmarking against market standards.

c. Support the creation of and execute long-term benefits strategies aligned with business objectives and workforce needs.

2. Compliance & Risk Management

a. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA,FLA, ADA).

b. Oversee regulatory reporting, including 5500 filings and nondiscrimination testing.

c. Partner with legal, finance, and HR teams to mitigate risks and address compliance concerns.

d. Ensure accuracy of payroll and benefits through regular benefit reconciliation and oversight of missed or incorrect deductions, preventing financial leakage and employee over/underpayments.

e. Maintain compliance with plan rules, audits, and regulatory requirements by identifying, investigating, and resolving discrepancies in benefit deductions.

3. Vendor & Budget Management

a. Manage relationships with benefits providers, brokers, and third-party administrators to optimize cost and service quality.

b. Negotiate vendor contracts and service agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

c. Oversee the benefits budget, ensuring financial sustainability and forecasting future costs.

4. Employee Experience & Communication

a. Lead communication strategies to educate employees about benefits programs, enrollment processes, and policy changes.

b. Manage benefits enrollment processes, including annual open enrollment and life event changes.

c. Address employee concerns and resolve benefits-related issues in a timely and professional manner.

5. Leave & Disability Management

a. Oversee leave of absence programs, including FMLA, short-term disability, long-term disability, and paid time off policies.

b. Ensure leave administration processes are compliant and effectively support employee needs.

6. Data Analytics & Reporting

a. Utilize HRIS and benefits platforms to analyze benefits utilization, cost trends, and employee feedback.

b. Prepare reports and recommendations on benefits trends and financial impacts.

7. Compensation Support

a. Provide leadership with data-driven insights to optimize program effectiveness and employee satisfaction.

b. Assist with base and variable compensation programs, for both exempt and non-exempt positions

c. Assist with conducting compensation analyses and market research to support budgeting, including evaluation of benefits costs; provide data-driven recommendations for compensation and benefits adjustments, and ensure total rewards programs are aligned with industry standards. d. Perform internal equity reviews and audits of compensation and benefits programs to ensure fairness, consistency, and competitiveness, and identify opportunities for alignment with market practices and organizational objectives.

8. Leadership & Team Management

a. Lead and develop the benefits team, ensuring high levels of service and operational efficiency.

b. Collaborate with HR, finance, and executive leadership to integrate benefits into broader HR and business strategies.

c. Foster a culture of employee well-being and engagement through benefits programs.

Salary range is $84,000 - $95,000



Qualifications

Education

Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

7+ years of experience in benefits administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Special Skills

Strong knowledge of benefits laws and regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA.

Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts.

Strong analytical skills and proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration systems.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.
