They work in various environments, including underground vaults, aerial bucket trucks, and data centers, to ensure high-speed internet and data transmission, often requiring travel. Key Responsibilities and Usage Examples * Fusion Splicing: Using a fusion splicer to melt together the ends of two glass fibers using an electrical arc for a seamless connection. * Cable Preparation: Cleaning, stripping, and preparing fiber optic cables for splicing. * Diagnostic Testing: Using equipment like OTDRs (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers) to test signal loss and ensure fiber integrity. * Infrastructure Installation: Installing fiber optic cables in new developments, either underground or aerial. * System Repair: Repairing broken or damaged fiber lines, often in emergency outage situations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kalamazoo, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
