Position Description:

With guidance from the Project or Program Manager, coordinates, plans, and executes processes in support of one, or several projects and programs, to accomplish program goals within cost and schedule guidelines. Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to the business. The incumbent will assist in data analysis and preparing technical reports. This role requires a technical or scientific background, a foundation in metallurgy principles and hands-on experience with laboratory techniques, specifically for forgings and castings, would be ideal.

Essential Functions:

With guidance from the Project or Program Manager, review program and project contracts/agreements to ensure all requirements are met.

Develop sufficient program knowledge to effectively interface with team members and clients.

With guidance from the Project or Program Manager, supports project activities can include the following:
  • assists in the preparation and maintenance of project cost/schedule baselines
  • assists in the preparation and maintenance Statements of work (SOW)
  • ensuring revision control is maintained through the approval process
  • assist the Project or Program Manager with preparing and maintaining project scope, budget and schedule using some form of Earned Value Management (EVM), as required by the program
  • reviewing invoices for accuracy and appropriateness and evaluating cost variances
  • verifies proper data entry to enable the Project or Program Manager can track project progress and deliverables to ensure timely completion and acceptance by the AOR or PTR
  • enables the environment to support collaborative leadership, facilitation and interface among supported customers, vendors and users
  • collect, organize, and perform initial analysis of data using approved tools
  • support technical reports by reviewing data, figures, and reviewing research findings

For programs with projects that require more direct performance and technical oversight:
  • Support technology experts and team consultants building and developing solutions to technical issues. Assist in developing scopes of work related to that effort.
  • Work within the project team to provide technical expertise to the division lead and the technical management of the projects.
  • Perform some literature research to mature working knowledge of technical subjects in support of project research and problem solving.
  • Work with the project team to develop and maintain project schedules.
  • Work with the project team to coordinate technology transfers/transition plans for projects assigned.

Assists in the preparation and maintenance of project proposals, including the management of statement of works, work breakdown structure, and resource allocation.

Assists in the preparation and maintenance of project schedules.

Develops and maintains documentation necessary to coordinate technology transfers/transitions for projects assigned.

Assists the Project or Program Manager to prepare technical and financial reports. Reviews Project Status Reports (PSRs) for accuracy and consistency with team members.

Anticipates and assists the Project or Program Manager with the evaluation of risk mitigation solutions. Assists in the preparation and execution of program updates for program reviews and conferences.

Assists in the preparation and documentation of program team meetings, either on-site or virtual as required by the contract/agreement.

Prepares, reviews, and finalizes the content of program website, brochures, posters, and newsletters, and advises program team members of needed updates and maintenance.

As directed, performs with a high degree of accuracy Data entry of financial information in support of reporting requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

Assists in the preparation of Project or Program success stories with the Program Manager and the Business Development and Communications Department.

Assists with the development of the content of project proposals, technical reports and white papers, as needed.

Present technical topics at conferences or provide training to groups on technical topics related to the program.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and training. Technical qualifications for supporting projects, degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Engineering or a related field preferred. Awareness of metal manufacturing processes - forging, casting, additive manufacturing, or welding a plus.

Minimum of two or more years' experience working in a program support role preferred. Consideration given for collegiate lab or technical project experience, internships, co-op participation and comparable activities.

Independent self-directed worker, team player, and problem solver.

Strong communication skills, including technical presentations, technical reports, meeting management and work group management.

Ability to travel and to present technical topics to conferences and meetings required. Weekend travel is very infrequent; however, it may be needed to support the client's needs for an early Monday or late Friday event.

Strong computer skills including intermediate Excel skills, MS Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project desired. MS Access experience a plus.

This position will need the ability to access US only data systems - US Citizenship is required and/or must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance (for certain projects/programs).

Must successfully pass a background to access sensitive information and automated systems.

Anticipated starting pay rate is in range commensurate with education and experience:
$73,000 - $78,000
