SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The Sr. Coordinator, Water & Waste is responsible for ensuring environmental requirements related to water and waste are effectively implemented and sustained within day-to-day operations. This role translates regulatory and permit requirements into practical operational controls, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to embed environmental compliance into procedures, systems, and field execution.

The position is accountable for verifying that compliance is achieved in practice-not just in documentation-through field presence, data review, and coordination across functions. This position is located in Brownsville, TX.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the onsite waste and water programs (NPDES, RCRA, CERCLA, EPRCA, etc.) for the Operating Facility
  • Oversee implementation of key programmatic plans (SWPPP, SPCC, Waste Management, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan, etc.)
  • Monitor and verify compliance with environmental conditions of regulatory approvals and applicable environmental regulations/guidelines. Translate regulatory and permit requirements into clear, executable operational controls
  • Work with Operations and Maintenance to embed environmental requirements into procedures, work instructions, and SAP tasks
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure systems (e.g., alarms, monitoring, inspections) support compliance
  • Develop and maintain compliance demonstration narratives for water and waste requirements
  • Conduct field-based verification to confirm requirements are being met in practice
  • Identify gaps and drive practical, implementable solutions, not just findings
  • Support startup/commissioning by ensuring environmental requirements are understood and executable in real time
  • Management system documents and records management.
  • Conduct assurance activities related to the Environment Compliance Program and associated management action plans.
  • Hazard identification, inventory, and risk management.
  • Environment training program, competency management and mapping of environment controls.
  • Track and trend waste management, water discharge, assure accurate and timely reports.
  • Interpret laboratory reports and analytical data to assure appropriate waste classification.
  • Support effective and efficient waste storage, transport, and disposal practices.
  • Monitor and oversee waste generation, storage, and disposal in accordance with environmental regulations.
  • Advise and implement fit-for-purpose tools to manage waste profiles and environmental compliance tracking.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience in environmental compliance or operations
  • 10+ years' experience in environmental waste management or environmental compliance within the oil and gas, pipeline, or similar industries.
  • Ability to develop and implement practical, field-executable procedures in collaboration with Operations and Maintenance
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business, at various levels of the organization, in a businesslike and professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment with evolving systems and priorities
  • Verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Strong ownership mindset-takes accountability for outcomes, not just tasks
  • Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, executable actions
  • Effective collaboration with Operations and Maintenance teams
  • Willingness to work in the field to understand how work is performed
  • Bias toward problem-solving and solution development rather than escalation
  • Ability to maintain detailed records to ensure compliance with all company policies as well as all local, state, and federal regulations.


  • A Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card and a valid driver's license are required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in environmental management, water quality, or air quality is a plus.
  • Research skills to stay updated on emerging environmental issues, technology, and regulation changes.
  • 4+ years onsite LNG operational experience.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and site plans.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance in LNG.
  • Understanding of process relevant to LNG and major hazards working on an Operational site.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

* Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
* Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions.
* Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
* Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
* Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.

* Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.
