This is a hybrid position which requires 8 dayspermonth intheoffice. About the Program:

The NDC Partnership is a global coalition, bringingtogether more than 260 members, including more than 140 countries, developed and developing,and more than 110 institutionsto deliveronambitious climate action that helps achieve the Paris Agreement and drive sustainable development. Governments identify their NDC implementation priorities and the type of support that is needed to translate them into actionable policies and programs. Based on these requests, the membership offers a tailored package of expertise, technical assistance and funding. This collaborative response provides developing countries with efficient access to a wide range of resources to adapt to and mitigate climate change and foster more equitable and sustainable development.

The work of the NDC Partnership is facilitated by a Support Unit hosted by WRI in Washington, DC and the UNFCCC secretariat and UNOPS in Bonn, Germany.

The individual in this position will be part of the Support Unit.

Job Summary:

The Communications and Outreach Associate supports the NDC Partnership Support Unit in producing high-quality communications that amplify country-driven climate action. Working within the Communications Team, this role spans content development, editorial production, partner coordination and media engagement to support the delivery on clear, consistent and impactful storytelling across channels.

This position is suited to a proactive communicator with strong writing skills and experience in climate policy and international development.

What you will do:

Writing and Content Development (35%)

  • Research and draft impact stories, blog posts, and feature content highlighting country progress and NDC Partnership activities.
  • Edit and refine materials from colleagues and partners for clarity, consistency, tone and alignment with brand standards.
  • Draft and adapt content for newsletters, website updates, social media and other channels as needed.

Content Delivery & Publishing (25%)

  • Assist with the development and delivery of communications products, including briefs, reports, digital content, newsletters and announcements.
  • Compile basic audience insights to inform future communications and outreach.
  • Edit, format and distribute internal and external newsletters and stakeholder mailings, including managing audiences and lists in Mailchimp.

Media Support (20%)

  • Monitor and track media coverage of NDC Partnership activities and relevant climate policy developments, flagging key stories to senior staff.
  • Maintain and regularly update targeted media lists, ensuring contacts are current and well-organized.
  • Draft supporting materials - press releases, talking points, backgrounders, and media advisories - for review and use by senior staff.
  • Coordinate logistics around media moments, including distributing materials, tracking confirmations and organizing follow-up.
  • Compile media coverage reports for internal reporting and team awareness.

Partner Coordination (20%)

  • Coordinate day-to-day communicationsand engagement with partners.
  • Gather inputs, track deliverables, support review and approval processes for joint materials.
  • Participate in planning calls, document clear follow-up actions and help keep shared products on schedule.
  • Support collaboration on announcements, campaigns and storytelling opportunities with partners.

What Will you need:

Required

  • You have a completed Bachelor's degree
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, journalism, content production, or a related field
  • Excellent written English, with demonstrated ability to produce polished copy across formats, including, newsletters, social media, web
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical or policy content into accessible, accurate narratives
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrates care, patience and clarity when explaining processes, priorities, and timelines.
  • Takes ownership of tasks and sees them through to completion.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with climate policy, the UNFCCC process or international development
  • Experience coordinating with international partners or working in a multilateral environment
  • Basic knowledge of CMS platforms, design tools or media monitoring tools

Potential Salary:

$69,000-$82,000 if based in US.Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
