UNC Hospitals Department of Audiology is seeking a full-time Clinical Pediatric Audiologist to provide services in Wake County, primarily located at UNC Hospitals Audiology at Lake Boone Trail as well as the NC Children's Hospital when clinically necessary. We are looking for a highly motivated, audiologist to provide provide audiology services to pediatric patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working in an academic medical center or children's hospital in collaboration with otolaryngologists and relation professionals. They should also have experience in the assessment and audiologic management of infants and young children with hearing loss.

This is a 40 hours/week daytime position; however, schedule may vary depending on clinic needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Administering basic and complex diagnostic evaluations to assess auditory, vestibular, and related conditions in patients of all ages
  • Behavioral and electrophysiologic assessment of infants and young children: Newborn Hearing Screenings (NICU & OP setting),ABRs under natural sleep as well as under sedation (in conjunction with imaging, sedated procedures, or surgeries),Behavioral assessments (including two-tester VRA and CPA),Participation in UNC interdisciplinary clinics when needed (NICU follow up clinic, Special Infant Care clinic, Trisomy 21 clinic)
  • Hearing aid fitting (air and bone conduction devices) and verification using real ear measures
  • Counseling and communication with children and their families regarding hearing loss and its implications, and establishing goals and treatment programs
  • Provide pediatric audiology care to families across the state via UNC Mobile Speech and Hearing Clinic (up to 2 times per month)
  • Provide diagnostic audiology services for co-located pediatric ENT and Otology partners
  • Precepting AuD trainees during their clinical training and externship
  • This position does not include working with or programming of cochlear implants.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Audiology program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • Licensed as an Audiologist by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
  • BLS within 3 months of hire date.
Professional Experience Requirements:
  • Audiologist experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
  • Exhibits effective communication and interprofessional skills
  • Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Comfortable with clinical teaching and student supervision associated with employment in a leading academic medical center
