Assumes responsibilities for a large branch office with deposits generally $50 to $75 million, and FTE greater than 4.0.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide confident and enthusiastic leadership to branch, including branch profitability
  • Motivate branch staff to optimum and increased performance and success, both for individuals and the branch
  • Possess expert knowledge of all products and services, with emphasis on deposits, consumer loans (including mortgages), business relationships and investments
  • Possess expert knowledge of all aspects of the branch's operations

Provide Confident and Enthusiastic Leadership to Branch Staff

Primary responsibility is to provide leadership to branch staff, provide an exceptionally high level of service, and increase the performance and profitability of the branch. The Manager bears ultimate responsibility for the branch's performance and profitability.

A key duty is to be able to lead the branch by building and helping their staff in their daily activities. Must be able to effectively communicate and work with their staff to increase their branch's performance. Must ensure the staff is aware of the branch's objectives and performance standards, as well as the team member's individual performance, and promote success within the branch. Must also work to train and coach newly hired and long-term employees to make sure everyone is performing at an exceptional level.

Must be the bridge between staff and Senior Leadership. Prepares reports and informs Senior Leader about the performance of their branch. Must be able to communicate company-wide changes to products, functions and operations.

Motivate branch staff to optimum and increased performance and success, both for individuals and for the branch

Responsible for the overall success of a branch. Must work to ensure they are providing the highest possible degree of services and products to their customers. Managers are constantly working to develop new strategies to reach their branch's performance goals. Must develop and promote new products and services for customers as well as be proactive in making business calls and participating in the community through networking and involvement on boards.

Possess expert knowledge of all products and services, with emphasis on deposits, consumer loans (including mortgages), business relationships and investments

Responsible to know all products and services offered by Mascoma; including all deposit products both consumer and business; all consumer loans, including Home Equity products; knowledge of mortgage products leading to referrals to mortgage team colleagues; Cash Management offerings for businesses and municipalities, and knowledge of investments offered by the Bank.

Possess expert knowledge in all aspects of branch operations

Must be very knowledgeable about the banking industry and be able to perform various banking procedures and operations. These duties may be anything from auditing a teller's drawer to monitoring loans and deposits. Must be aware of banking regulatory matters and proper operational procedures to keep their branch running successfully.

Essential Functions

1) Oversee all performance management within the Branch and partner with the Assistant Branch Manager to ensure optimum operating efficiency by:

  • Making routine employment decisions, including reviewing performance, assigning work, providing training, guiding, and advising staff as necessary.
  • Resolving routine personnel problems. Continually working to foster and maintain team environment with Relationship Bankers.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining ongoing training for self and staff, including regular staff meetings and one-on-one meetings to ensure success of individuals and branch.

2) Performs Banking Procedures

  • Must be very knowledgeable about the banking industry and able to perform various Relationship Banker's?duties.
  • Must be aware of banking regulatory matters and proper operational procedures in order to keep the branch running successfully and within bank best practices.

3) Assists with responsibility for efficient management of Branch operations by:

  • Interpreting and explaining bank policies, programs, and objectives, ensuring that approved operating policies and procedures are implemented and maintained.
  • Continually evaluating operating methods and procedures, making recommendations for improvements, and implementing approved changes.
  • Provides customers with information and assistance; responding to a variety of customer questions or complaints.
  • Provides signature guarantees and notary services; approves wire transfers and overdrafts within authority.
  • Ensures that the branch balances daily; maintains proper control of the vault and the teller drawer cash, as well as ordering of coin and currency.

4) Creates an environment of exceptional customer service centered around the High-5 Standards

  • Demonstrates an enthusiastic, positive attitude
  • Communicates well when interacting with customers (internally and externally)
  • Initiates conversations with customers to better understand the customer and their needs
  • Seeks options for customers' situations
  • Makes reasonable decisions based on customer needs and relationships

5) Foster a culture of open communication and mutual respect and trust by implementing the 5 A's:

  • Attitude, Acknowledgement, Acceptance, Action, and Achievement.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate to Relationship Bankers how to take ownership of issues and engage with other team members.

6) Makes and services a variety of loans by:

  • Interviewing customers and compiling necessary information to determine customers' requirements and the best type of loan to satisfy their needs
  • Ensuring that all necessary personal and financial data is obtained and properly analyzed
  • Providing ongoing service to loan customers and taking appropriate action to resolve any problems that might arise
  • Assisting the Collection department with recouping delinquent accounts
  • Responsible for accurately completing loan documentation

7) Lead the effort to represent the Bank in the community and promote and develop additional business by:

  • Contacting existing customers to determine their needs and level of satisfaction.
  • Making regularly scheduled business calls to branch customers and if applicable, prospects.
  • Participating in civic and community events, including participation on boards pertinent to the community.
  • Ensuring that a continuous effort is made to keep customers and the public informed about banking services.

8) Attends education programs made available by the bank.

Requirements

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience
  • Five plus (5+) years of branch management experience
  • Proven record of branch growth
  • Proven customer and business development skills
  • Lending experience in consumer, Home Equity, and small business loans
  • Ability to use and working knowledge of computers/strong keyboarding skills
  • Good interpersonal communication
  • Must maintain confidentiality and privacy
  • Professional appearance; grooming and dress consistent with position and MB appearance policy

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift or transport up to 25 pounds on their own or 50 pounds with another person
  • Varied work with a normal expenditure of energy and little or no unusual physical effort?
  • May involve incidental business machine operations
  • Work involves intermittent periods of stationary positioning and traversing
  • Requires traveling to meetings, bank activities, and customer calls
  • Working conditions include well-lit and well-ventilated areas
