Position Summary
Schedules patients for surgery and coordinates operating room schedules for multi-disciplinary, multi-site surgeons. Works closely with internal and external teams including OR staff, New Patient Services, Admitting, Utilization Review, clinic schedulers, physicians, and vendors to ensure seamless surgical coordination and an exceptional patient experience.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Coordinate and schedule surgical cases and outpatient procedures aligned with physician block time and clinic schedules
  • Manage pre-operative workflows including orders, labs, and diagnostic testing
  • Communicate with patients regarding surgery dates, expectations, and financial estimates
  • Obtain authorizations and pre-certifications from health plans prior to procedures
  • Facilitate agreements between hospitals and insurance providers when required
  • Serve as a key point of contact for patients throughout the surgical journey
  • Schedule pre-op and post-op appointments, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate
  • Coordinate vendor equipment and surgical support staff as needed
  • Maintain accurate scheduling data within practice management systems and EMR
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve scheduling conflicts and optimize patient care

Qualifications

Your qualifications should be:

  • High school diploma (required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
