Position Summary: This position involves assisting in planning and running camp programming along with childcare duties.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Prepare information and activities for camp programming as assigned.
  • Light housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Take care of assigned children when needed.
  • Participate in camp staff orientation as assigned.
  • Participate in all staff meetings.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the position.
  • Assist in creating a Christian atmosphere and support the infusion of Christian Outreach through the programming.
  • Other similar and related duties may be assigned.



Qualifications:

Education/Experience:



  • High school diploma or GED equivalency (preferred).
  • Must be at least 17 years old.
  • Six months of experience working with youth and active participation in a Christian faith community in support of The Salvation Army's mission preferred.
  • On the job training provided.



Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:



  • Basic computer skills
  • Willingness to learn new software as needed.
  • Sufficient English proficiency to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and short written materials, write basic correspondence, and clearly communicate information in one-on-one and small-group situations.
  • Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor at all times and uphold the Christian standards and ministries of The Salvation Army in all areas of job responsibilities.
  • Must have basic math skills, including the ability to work with U.S. currency and standard measurements (weight, volume, and distance).
  • Ability to follow instructions and handle basic problems in routine situations.



Certificates and Licenses:



  • Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
  • Current First Aid, CPR and AED, or ability to obtain within 45 days.
