SUMMARY:
The Manager of Health Information Management Operations is directly responsible for the daily operations of the Health Information Department in keeping with policies and procedures, professional standards, and hospital rules and regulations. Provides direction to HIM operations supervisors and team leaders to achieve and maintain workflow efficiency and optimal productivity. Serve as an essential member of Health Information Management leadership, that contributes to Brown University Health's organizational strategy and care values. Acts as first point of contact for administrative, medical staff, and regulatory issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Brown University Health employees are expected to successfully role model the organization's values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence as these guide our everyday actions with patients, customers and one another. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Health Information Department at Rhode Island Hospital and Newport Hospital, including staffing decisions, and implementation of policies and procedures to align with the Joint Commission standards, the hospitals rules and regulations as well as the medical staff bylaws. Manages enterprise HIM Operations and processes, including record completion, documentation deficiency tracking for inpatient, outpatient, and hospital based ambulatory clinic visits. Collaborate with medical staff and hospital leadership at Newport Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital, and Miriam Hospital to facilitate and maintain medical record documentation compliance, and responsible for facilitation and execution of physician notification processes regarding medical record documentation deficiencies, delinquencies, and suspensions. Oversee transcription, and documentation audit functions for Rhode Island Hospital and Miriam Hospital. Serves as a subject matter expert on health record documentation requirements for paper-based and electronic health record (EHR). Collaborate and assist revenue cycle and coding staff when necessary to ensure that medical record documentation is documented in a timely manner for coding and billing. Assist HIM Information Services staff with integrated testing for both transcription and Epic direct entry documentation. Collaborate and assist medical staff with any medical record documentation and computer issues. Process and report monthly delinquent deficiency rates for inpatient admissions to the Brown University Health Medical Committee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in the Health Information Management (HIM) field with strong communication skills. RHIA or /RHIT preferred. Experience in healthcare environment Coordination experience in department management on complex issues, demonstrate problem solving skills and logical thinking. Strong organization skills, careful attention to detail and knowledge in HIM workflow/processes and data collection. JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY: Knowledge &Awareness of all areas related to HIM Operations. Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques related to Document Imaging. Ability to manage staff schedules and shift coverage for all areas of HIM Operations. Verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate tactical and analytical thinking and planning skills, and is able to develop plan to accomplish objectives, identify obstacles and resolve operational issues. Organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize multiple projects while delivering quality service and achieving business results. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Supervises 25 or more FTEs.

Pay Range:

$86,382.40-$142,542.40
