Position Overview

Position Summary:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Agriculture/Food Science/Kinesiology, focusing on Sports and Recreation Management and Sports Administration. The Department offers an undergraduate major in physical education with emphasis in teaching k12, health and wellness, and sports/recreation management. At the graduate level, a Master of Science in Physical Education is offered with emphasis areas in sport administration. This is a full-time, tenure-track position and is a residential appointment with campus presence required.



Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in sports & recreation management and sports administration.
  • Develop and deliver courses, using traditional face-to-face and distance delivery models.
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Engage in scholarly and service activities.
  • Supervision of internships
  • Attend departmental and university meetings and external meetings as required.
  • Attend and assist at recruitment activities, whether sponsored by program, department, college, or university.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Health Education, Physical Education with a focus in sports & recreation management or sports administration or a closely related field.
  • Appropriate record of scholarly activity or demonstrable ability to build such a record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and enthusiasm for a broad cross-disciplinary approach to the degrees found in the Kinesiology program;
  • Commitment to collaboration and working as part of a team to visualize, plan, deliver, assess, and redirect programs as needed to serve stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, advise, and mentor students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and oral formats
  • Experience in (or willingness to learn) advanced online technology to enhance online teaching.


Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
