Carpenters' Helper

The Carpenter's Helper will assist the carpenters in basic construction and restoration activities, as per their directives.

Primary Duties - Assist carpenters with basic carpentry work under their guidance. Assist with preparation of tools and materials needed for scheduled jobs including pick up of materials to and from job sites. Help with remedial work. Clean up job sites, work areas, parts and equipment. Performs routine paperwork, as required.

Measures of Accomplishment

• Carpenters are assisted, as per their directions.
• Assignments are completed in a skillful, timely and safe manner.
• Safety education and training guidelines are followed.
• Needs basic knowledge of wood, steel stud construction and drywall finishing.
• Must be able to prep and paint areas with a team or independently.

Education/Skills and Knowledge

• Basic knowledge of construction materials, methods and terminology.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to cooperate and work under the direction of the carpenters.

Safety and Training

Individual is required to be familiar and follow guidelines for the utilization of safety equipment for operating vehicles, trucks and power tools. Training and discipline should be implemented at all times.

Must be able to lift fifty (50) lb. objects, or better, intermittently. Ability to work off ladders and/or scaffolds. Must be able to work in various weather conditions. Exposure to high levels of noise.
