Job Summary: This Sr. Legal Counsel position will provide commercial legal support to NRG Energy, Inc.'s ("NRG") businesses providing retail energy and gas to commercial and industrial (C&I) businesses. This individual will be a team oriented and commercially focused attorney that will be a critical part of the commercial services legal team supporting the C&I business. The attorney will be capable of collaborating frequently with team members, originators, sales personnel, and other stakeholders within the organization, including, maintaining a value-added relationship with commercial, credit, risk, and compliance teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising leadership and other stakeholders on legal risks, strategies, and structures for a variety of commercial matters relating to NRG's C&I business. In addition, responsibilities will include reviewing and negotiating large commercial power and natural gas supply agreements, broker agreements and REC agreements. This individual will ideally be highly versatile, self-motivated, and organized individual capable of exercising sound legal and business judgement under time sensitive and fast paced conditions, to deliver a high quality and well-conceived work product that furthers the organization's business objectives.
