LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION, DAVIDSON COUNTY A Motor Vehicle Records screening will be conducted prior to employment. Qualifications Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to four years of increasingly responsible full-time professional human resources work. Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate coursework in human resources administration or other related acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years. Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time professional human resources experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years. OR Three years of increasingly responsible professional general human resources experience with the State of Tennessee. Necessary Special Qualifications: None. Examination Method: Education and Experience,100%, for Preferred Service positions. For Executive Service positions, Minimum Qualifications, Necessary Special Qualifications, and Examination Method are determined by the appointing authority. Overview The Human Resources Manager serve as a subject matter expert, providing strategic advice to key business partners across the Facility in all human resources areas, including hiring and staffing, benefits, employee relations, classification and compensation, leave and attendance, disciplinary actions, and other human resources programs. Individuals selected are expected to create and maintain positive working relationships with employees, managers/supervisors, and executive leadership within their respective areas. Successful candidates must exercise sound judgment and discretion in developing, applying and interpreting HR and departmental guidelines and policies in complex, sensitive, or new situations and manage a dynamic workload, prioritizing conflicting needs and handling sensitive matters expeditiously, proactively, and confidentially.
