1.0 FTE / 40 Hours per Week


The Clinic Supervisor - Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing direct supervision and leadership to patient care services staff at Urgent Care Capitol Clinic. The Clinic Supervisor (RN) has responsibility for the day to day functioning of the Urgent Care clinic patient care team and works collaboratively with the Site Chief, Urgent Care and Nurse Connect Manager, and the Reception Team Supervisor to manage the daily and ongoing needs of the clinic. The Clinic Supervisor (RN) oversees daily staffing and ensures that excellent customer service is provided. The Clinic Supervisor (RN) is expected to use professional judgment in decision making; and must be able to be resourceful and flexible in emergent situations. The Clinic Supervisor (RN) is responsible for providing excellent ambulatory nursing care with a patient centered approach to all interactions. The Clinic Supervisor (RN) possesses strong clinical, leadership, education, and advocacy skills. Additionally, the Clinic Supervisor (RN) functions in various clinical roles, providing telephone triage, patient education, direct patient care, anticipatory guidance, care coordination, and evaluation of staff performance. The incumbent works under the guidance and supervision of the Urgent Care and Nurse Connect Manager. Provider staff may delegate activities to a Registered Nurse within the licensing and RN scope of practice within the State of Wisconsin. NOTE: This position is regularly exposed to blood borne pathogens, diseases, and cleaning/sterilization solutions.



JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Wisconsin is required.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university is preferred but not required.
  3. One (1) to Three (3) years of professional nursing experience is required. Experience working in an ambulatory or clinic setting is preferred. A minimum of one (1) year of RN experience at Group Health Cooperative is strongly preferred. Prior leadership or supervisory experience is desirable.
  4. Possession of or eligibility for a valid Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certificate is required. Employee must obtain certification within four (4) months of employment.
  5. Knowledge of scientific nursing principles, methods and techniques in an ambulatory setting as a basis for quality decision-making ability is required. Current knowledge of and maintenance of nursing trends, techniques and certifications is required. Participation in pertinent continuing education courses is required.
  6. Excellent leadership skills are required. Ability to provide individual and small group problem-solving and guidance is required. Ability to provide positive guidance, proactive coaching and timely discipline in the day-to-day supervision of staff is required.
  7. Ability to develop and monitor the professionalism, skill and teamwork of the assigned Patient Care Services staff is required. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills are required.
  8. Ability to perform a variety of clinical skills which may include but are not limited to IV Therapy, injections, allergy shots and wound care is required. Ability to assist in procedures performed in clinics is required.
  9. Ability to recognize and identify symptoms and problems, with good nursing assessment skills is required.
  10. Ability to be resourceful and flexible in emergency situations is required.
  11. Ability to review new trends and techniques and update knowledge base is required.
  12. Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care, treatments and follow-up is required.
  13. Excellent verbal communication and listening skills both in-person and on the phone are required.
  14. Excellent assessment skills and the ability to prioritize changing patient conditions is required.
  15. Knowledge of interviewing practices and techniques used to gather information is required.
  16. Ability to maintain quality, safety and /or infection control standards is required.
  17. Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills are required. Ability to be culturally sensitive and work with a diverse patient population is required.
  18. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and use computer- based applications such as MS Office, electronic medical record (EMR) systems and scheduling applications is required. Experience with Epic Care EMR is desirable. Must type a minimum of 30 WPM with minimal errors.
  19. Knowledge of medical records and appropriate documentation is required.
  20. Basic understanding or ability to learn about reimbursement/insurance practices for medical care is required.
  21. Ability to maintain good working relationships with patients and staff is required.
  22. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality is required. Knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
  23. Ability to work as member of a team and maintain good working relationships with staff and patients is required.
  24. Good organizational skills in the delivery of clinical care are required.
  25. Ability to remain calm and be resourceful in emergency situations is required.
  26. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor is required.
  27. Ability to travel to various work sites is required. Employee is expected to provide personal transportation. Possession of a valid, Wisconsin driver license if the employee is operating a motor vehicle is required.
  28. Ability to climb, stoop, kneel and crouch is required. Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally is required. Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time is required. Ability to continuously stand and transport, with occasional sitting is required.
