What to Expect
Tesla's Factory Engineering organization is looking for a Gas and Chemical Process Design Engineer to join our Process Design team in Austin, TX. The process design team strives to create the factory of the future by bringing conceptual designs to life, producing cutting-edgedetailed designs of chemical and utility systems that are fully integrated with manufacturing processes. As a Gas and Chemical Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in the cutting-edge semiconductor facility design.
What You'll Do
- System Design: Designcutting-edgegas, chemical, and slurry supply systems tailored tofabrequirements, ensuring safety and reliability
- Knowledge of chemical compatibility for materials forprocessfluids and gases; as well as materials of construction needed for chemical and gas systems to meet semiconductor high purity requirements
- Engineering Input: Analyze equipment specifications, engineering drawings, P&IDs, PFDs, BOMs, and other design-related documents tovalidateperformance, accuracy, and compliance
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs meet applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IFC, IBC, NFPA, SEMI, ASME)
- Work to integrate reliability focus and risk analysis into Systems Engineering job scope, which includes FMEAs, root cause analysis, cause mapping, design, commissioning, and training
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with external stakeholders (contractors, vendors, AHJs, engineers of records) and internal teams (facility operations,fabconstruction/design, procurement) to ensure satisfaction and alignmentondesign requirements
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of fluid control, supply, and distribution systems including piping, valves, PLCs, tanks, regulators, sensors, filters, piping connections, etc.
- Ability to read P&IDs, PFDs, andunderstandinggas/chemical supply systems, equipment operating principles, and fundamental operational skills
- Proficiencyin design and documentation tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Bluebeam, Revit,and AutoCAD
- Applicant is expected to be willing and able to work in a manufacturing facility or chemical processing facility environment
