Mechatronics Subsystem Validation Engineer

Stellantis
United States, Michigan, Auburn Hills
May 02, 2026

Stellantis is seeking a Calibration Engineer to work in a laboratory atmosphere to test and troubleshoot mechatronics vehicle subsystems systems on some or all test properties: Subsystem Benches with Hardware-in-the-Loop( HIL), Subsystem Benches standalone and/or vehicles. The Calibration Engineer may develop procedures for manual and automated execution; implementing and executing tests using HIL equipment; documenting and reviewing execution reports; reporting issues, and tracking software updates to fix issues. The Engineer may perform vehicle level networking testing, analyze the data, and validate the integrity of the vehicle system on all properties. This role requires close collaboration with feature owners, engineering, extended teams, and suppliers to develop a strong understanding of the EE functions for early identification of defects and to provide evidence of defect elimination. The Engineer will also provide feedback on the test plans and procedures for continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials/Chemical/ Civil/Aerospace/Computer) or related degree field.
  • Interface with systems and calibration to fully understand the requirements to test.
  • Support definition of DV/PV plan for HIL and Calibration bench and/or vehicle tests.
  • Contribute to the definition, design and implementation of Sub System benches, for each of the respective subsystems including prototype benches (Proof of Concept).
  • Execute physical validation tests for their respective subsystem on bench and vehicle (DV/PV) according to the project milestones.
  • Execute calibration subsystem on bench and vehicles according to the plan agreed with the calibration team (Verify, Validate, Release).
  • Analyze test execution results to generate reports, document incidents, and drive them to resolution.
  • Troubleshoot ECUs, System HIL and test environment functionality to minimize false positive incident reports.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies for test design and execution processes.
  • Document test environment, automation, and vehicle configuration requirements.
  • Familiarity with electrical debugging tools such as a digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, CAN diagnostic tools (CANoe/CANalyzer), current probes and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Assess and document the impacts against regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree field.
  • 2+ years of Engineering experience in the automotive industry.
  • EE Validation Hardware-in-the-Loop testing on Body, Chassis, and other vehicle electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CAN bus and experience using Vector CAN tools (CAN diagnostic tools, CANoe, CANalyzer.)
  • Demonstrated experience with electrical debugging tools such as a digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, current probes, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to determine root cause and to debug CAN and CAN FD communication buses.
  • Automated bench testing design experience including knowledge of programming languages (i.e., CAPL script).
  • Hardware- In-the-Loop systems experience (dSPACE, NI HIL systems) or other related.
  • Experience with HIL testing, vehicle integration and/or validation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
