Occupational Therapist (OT) Pediatrics Rehab PRN

Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Pediatrics Rehab team. This is role will be PRN/as needed requiring at least a weekend shift per month.

Our pediatric rehab team provides therapy services to the 226-bed pediatric hospital which includes a level IV NICU, PICU, Cardiac Unit, Intermediate Care Unit, Medical/Surgical Unit, and Hematology/Oncology/Orthopedic and Trauma Unit.

Occupational Therapist (OT) Job Responsibilities:

  • Documents evaluation results clearly and completely according to department policy.
  • Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance and an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed.
  • Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts.
  • Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' level of understanding and motivation.
  • Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols. Performs re-evaluations according to department guidelines - adjusting the treatment plan as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure: Virginia license in Occupational Therapy upon start
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association upon start

Preferred Qualification:

  • At least 1 year of pediatric acute care experience as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
