Position Responsibilities

Join our engineering team to help build Deltek's next-generation, cloud-native Project Portfolio Management platform. This AI-first SaaS solution unifies project controls including cost, schedule, and risk into a single, modern experience.

As an intern, you'll gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers to deliver real features that impact customers, while gaining hands-on experience in AI-first development, modern architectures, AI-enabled workflows, and enterprise-scale software development.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to development of a cloud-native, microservices-based platform
  • Build and enhance APIs, UI components, and backend services
  • Work with modern frameworks (e.g., Java, Spring Boot, React)
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering teams to deliver customer outcomes
  • Explore AI-driven capabilities (e.g., automation, intelligent insights, copilots)
What We're Looking For
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages (Java, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of web applications, APIs, or databases
  • Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity to learn
  • Interest in cloud technologies and AI-driven development
  • Learning Mindset: Eagerness to learn new technologies and frameworks quickly
AI-First Mindset
This role requires embracing an AI-first approach where GenAI and agentic AI tools are essential collaborators, not optional supplements. We expect team members who naturally think in AI-enhanced workflows and proactively integrate intelligent automation to solve development challenges more efficiently.

The ideal candidate has strong interest in prompt engineering techniques and conversational AI systems, with understanding of how to craft effective prompts for business contexts. You should be curious about natural language processing and how AI enhances user experiences, along with basic awareness of AI ethics and prompt safety considerations.

We're looking for someone who approaches feature development by first asking: "How can AI help me build this functionality faster and better?" This includes being comfortable with rapid AI tool evolution, eager to experiment with new AI capabilities for prompt engineering, and committed to sharing AI-enhanced approaches with the team.

Compensation Info

The U.S. hourly range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00. This range is subject to change as Deltek takes a number of factors into consideration when determining individual base pay, such as location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including incentive compensation and equity.
