Job Description:

Temporary HR Operations Generalist

Walbec Group | Greenville, WI

Walbec Group is a third-generation, family-owned construction company building infrastructure across Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois. Our HR Operations team is expanding - and we're looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, sweats the details, and genuinely enjoys helping people navigate big moments like starting a new job.

If you love flawless execution, clean data, and being the person others count on to make things happen - this role is for you. As an HR Operations Generalist, you'll be part of the team that runs the day-to-day operational work that supports the full employee lifecycle. You'll be a key touchpoint for employees, candidates, and hiring managers, and you'll own the behind-the-scenes coordination that turns offers into great first days - while keeping HR transactions accurate, compliant, and audit-ready.

What You'll Do
  • Be the first point of contact for employees, candidates, and hiring managers through our AskHR inbox, phone line, and ticketing system-triaging questions, resolving routine needs, and making sure nothing gets dropped.

  • Own candidate-to-Day One coordination, including welcome communication, pre-employment task tracking, confirmation outreach, and keeping recruiters/hiring managers informed.

  • Support and execute compliance tasks across the employee lifecycle ensuring records are complete, accurate, and ready when needed.

  • Facilitate new hire orientation at assigned locations-guiding employees through Day One readiness, verifying access/system tasks, and completing required employment paperwork (including I9 document completion).

  • Process HR transactions in Workday and help maintain clean, accurate employee data through routine updates and periodic audits.

  • Coordinate across teams to keep onboarding and employee support running smoothly-especially when timelines are tight or details are missing.

  • Support our HR Centers of Excellence, including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Employee Relations, Payroll, and Learning & Development, to ensure smooth handoffs and deliver strong employee assistance.

What You Bring
  • Two+ years of experience in HR, onboarding, operations, or customer/service support in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail and dependable follow-through

  • Comfort juggling dynamic priorities and working across systems

  • Professional communication and a helpful, solutions-first mindset

  • Microsoft Office proficiency; HRIS experience (Workday a plus)

The Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation aligned with industry standards

  • Employer Paid Medical Plan with HRA contribution (eligibility requirements)

  • Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance

  • Flex Spending Account (FSA)

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

  • Company-paid short and long-term disability coverage

  • Paid parental leave

  • Generous PTO and paid holidays

  • Profit sharing

  • Robust Walbec training and professional development program

  • Ongoing career growth opportunities
