The Engine Dyno Test Cell Operator will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Perform mechanical support associated with engine and transmission testing
- Test article cart installation & removal
- Standard engine maintenances (oil changes, spark plug changes, compression/leak down checks, coolant system pressurization, etc.)
- Part changes (cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds, etc.)
- Light fabrication (MIG & TIG welding, machining, cutting, etc.)
Dynamometer Controls:
- Starting & stopping the test article
- Putting the test article on automated test schedule
- System integrity checks
- Use the dynamometer control system to run defined tests that manipulate control aspects of the engine including spark advance, fuel-air ratio, cam position, valve position, etc.
- Interact on a day-to-day basis with powertrain development engineers to perform work on a test article
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an automotive mechanic, automotive tech, or a related position.
- Will consider candidates with an automotive repair degree/certification in lieu of experience.
- Willingness to work in a team-based environment
- Basic knowledge of operating a computer
- Possession of a mechanics toolbox and hand tool set
- Must be able to work any shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree
- Possess overall good fabrication skills having a high mechanical aptitude and deductive reasoning
- Possess skills for MIG & TIG welding on metals including stainless steel, mild steel, cast iron, and aluminum
- Minimum (2) years' experience operating engine dynamometers
- Hybrid/High Voltage experience
