Position Summary The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research (CHPR) is seeking a highly skilled Publications Manager to manage the development, editing, and production of CHPR's publications, including policy briefs, fact sheets, infographics, and reports. One of the nation's leading health policy research institutions, the UCLA CHPR is home to the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) - the largest state health survey in the nation - and produces data and insights that shape policy decisions, inform public understanding, and support the health and wellbeing of diverse communities. The Publications Manager will work closely with researchers, authors, and communications staff to ensure that every publication meets the highest standards of accuracy, clarity, and accessibility. The Publications Manager is the primary copyeditor for publications, and the position requires exceptional writing and editing skills, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to translate complex data, academic research, and health policy concepts into compelling narratives for a wide range of audiences, including legislators and policymakers, community advocates, researchers, media, and the public. The Publications Manager will coordinate editorial, design, and production schedules, and oversee the review and approval process for publications. They will work with CHPR's designer on reviews of layout, art, and design; incorporate changes from authors and freelancers; and check that all edits are implemented accurately. They will be responsible for ensuring editorial excellence, design consistency, and strategic alignment across all publications. This includes assuring that publications are compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) rules that govern publications posted on the UCLA CHPR website. The Publications Manager also writes and edits copy that support publications, including infographics, key highlights and summaries, publications landing pages and other web content, email blasts, social media, and other content that supports the dissemination of CHPR's work. The ideal candidate is a proactive and versatile communicator with strong project management skills, experience managing editorial workflows in a fast-paced environment, and a deep commitment to public health, health equity, and advancing health policy. The Publications Manager reports to the CHPR's Director of Communications and Publications, and contributes to a collaborative and highly productive Communications Department. This is a hybrid role, with 2-3 days per week in the office required. Please note that additional in-person days may be required based on operational needs. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
