Executive Service MAINTENANCE SUPPORT STAFF TN Supreme Court Knoxville, TN Annual Salary: $43,500.00 - $58,500.00 Closing Date: 05/24/2026 This is an on site positionBackground Check: This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you will be required to provide information about your criminal history to be considered for this position. How you make a difference in this role: Under general direction, this position is responsible for semi-skilled and skilled building maintenance work of some degree of difficulty. A person in this position assists and participates in a variety of tasks, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, masonry, general mechanical repair work and janitorial duties. Work is performed under the daily supervision of a building supervisor. Key Responsibilities: 1. Performs a variety of carpentry tasks in the maintenance of buildings. 2. Assists with installation and repair of electrical outlets, circuits, switches, fans and lighting fixtures. 3. Assists with installation and repair of plumbing fixtures and water lines. 4. Paints interior and exterior of buildings. 5. Assists in repair, adjustment and maintenance of heating and AC units. 6. Effectively utilizes a variety of tools and equipment, including hand-tools, skill saw, hand drill, drill press, pipe cutter, pipe threader and voltage tester. 7. Operates a motor vehicle. 8. Keeps simple records and makes routine reports, including, but not limited to, maintenance records, and time, leave and attendance reports. 9. Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them; 10. Gathers and empties trash; 11. Cleans restrooms and replenishes paper and soap as necessary; 12. Cleans windows, walls, woodwork, blinds and light fixtures; 13. Dusts and cleans furniture; 14. Notifies manager concerning the need for major repairs or adjustments to building operating systems; 15. And, performs other related tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. General knowledge of the properties of electricity. 2. Ability to paint and use hand tools. 3. Ability to perform plumbing and electrical repair. 4. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. 5. Ability to write clear, complete, accurate reports. 6. Visual ability sufficient to safely operate power and hand tools. 7. Hearing ability sufficient to converse with other individuals both in person and by telephone. 8. Speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person and by telephone. Minimum Qualifications: LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend instructions. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work requires a significant amount of standing, stooping, kneeling, walking, sitting, talking, listening, reaching with hands and arms, the ability to safely lift and transfer up to 150 pounds, and the ability to travel when required. COMMUNICATIONS: Conveys and receives information in person, in writing and over the telephone. QUALIFICATIONS: Work in this classification is considered medial physical work requiring the exertion of 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to: 1. Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch; 2. Determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work; 3. Observe general surroundings and activities; 4. And, communicate with staff to express or exchange ideas. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED and experience equivalent to four years of full-time skilled labor, including 3 years experience in building maintenance. Licenses: A valid Tennessee Driver License is required.
