Responsibilities

The Leader of Corporate Banking is a senior business leader responsible for developing, launching, and growing a new Corporate Banking vertical with a targeted portfolio exceeding $250M in revenue. This role will establish the initial strategy, client coverage model, operating structure, and team required to serve large and complex corporate clients.

This position leads a significant business segment with meaningful revenue responsibility and people leadership scope. The incumbent will execute strategy within established enterprise frameworks, while navigating the ambiguity associated with building a new capability where infrastructure, processes, and teams do not yet exist. Success in this role requires strong judgment, influence, and collaboration across Commercial Banking, Risk, Credit, Finance, Treasury, and Product partners.

The Leader of Corporate Banking is expected to translate enterprise strategy into actionable segment plans, drive disciplined portfolio growth, and develop managers and future leaders, while contributing insight and recommendations to senior leaders as the business evolves.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $127,900.00/Yr. - $258,600.00/Yr.. The base salary indicated for this position reflects the compensation range applicable to all levels of the role across the United States. Actual salary offers within this range may vary based on a number of factors, including the specific responsibilities of the position, the candidate's relevant skills and professional experience, educational qualifications, and geographic location.

Key Accountabilities

    Business & Segment Leadership
    • Lead the development and execution of the Corporate Banking segment strategy, including target client profiles, industry focus, and product alignment.
    • Build and manage a Corporate Banking portfolio exceeding $250M in revenue, driving disciplined growth and strong client outcomes.
    • Establish Corporate Banking as a differentiated offering while ensuring close coordination with adjacent businesses and shared services.
    • Represent Corporate Banking internally as the segment leader and externally with key clients and partners.
  • Portfolio & Financial Performance
    • Own revenue growth, portfolio performance, and client profitability for the Corporate Banking segment.
    • Partner with Credit and Risk leadership to support sound underwriting, portfolio quality, and adherence to enterprise risk frameworks.
    • Monitor performance metrics and take action to address growth opportunities, concentration risks, and operating challenges.
  • Team & Capability Build
    • Design and build the Corporate Banking team, including relationship managers and support functions, as the portfolio grows.
    • Hire, lead, and develop managers and individual contributors, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and client excellence.
    • Establish clear roles, expectations, and performance standards for a newly formed team.
  • Operating Model & Execution
    • Help define operating processes, governance, and decision rights for Corporate Banking in partnership with enterprise stakeholders.
    • Ensure consistent execution of client coverage, credit processes, and risk controls as the business scales.
    • Contribute to change management as Corporate Banking capabilities are introduced and refined within the organization.

    • Aligns efforts and resources around blue chips and formulates decisions on relevant factors (e.g., costs, benefits, buy-in, risks) with the greatest potential for positive impact.
    • Sets strategic direction for short-and long-term goals while remaining agile to adjust plans to close current gaps, modifying priorities as circumstances change.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) or advanced financial training preferred.
  • 10+ years of Significant leadership experience in Corporate Banking, Large Commercial Banking, or a related financial services segment serving complex corporate clients (250M+ in revenue).
  • Demonstrated success leading a business segment, portfolio, or team with material revenue responsibility.
  • Experience building or expanding a new business line, client segment, or capability, particularly in a matrixed or growth-oriented organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of corporate credit, risk management, capital structures, treasury services, and relationship-led banking models.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance growth, profitability, and risk discipline.
  • Proven people leader with experience developing managers and building high-performing teams.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, establish structure where limited precedent exists, and execute within enterprise frameworks.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills across Credit, Risk, Finance, and Product partners.
  • Executive presence with credibility among senior leaders and sophisticated corporate clients.
  • Sound judgment, decision-making capability, and ability to manage complex issues.
