BONUS OPPORTUNITY

Waste Pro offers a quarterly bonus of up to $3,500 for Residential, Roll-Off, and Commercial Route Supervisors. This program rewards leaders who demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, performance, and keeping our employees and communities safe.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Route Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily service operations to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective waste collection. This role leads drivers using Waste Pro's Core Values and Positive Leadership approach while delivering a "Distinguishably Different" level of service.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Daily Operations: Supervise drivers, coordinate routes, and ensure efficient service delivery
  • Promote Safety: Enforce company safety standards, support Decision Driving practices, and lead safety meetings
  • Route Management: Assign new services, optimize routes, and monitor productivity (yardage, tonnage, hauls)
  • Team Development: Train new hires, coach drivers, conduct ride-alongs, and address performance needs
  • Customer Service Excellence: Resolve service issues, respond to dispatch communications, and maintain strong relationships with customers and municipalities
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to DOT regulations, company policies, and complete required reports (inspections, incidents, performance)
  • Equipment Oversight: Monitor vehicle conditions and coordinate repairs with maintenance teams
  • Operational Support: Step in to assist routes or cover staffing shortages when needed


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in company-sponsored training and ongoing development
  • Stay current with technology and systems used by Waste Pro
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership


WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a hands-on, field-based role. The majority of the workday is spent outdoors supervising operations, supporting drivers, and ensuring service standards are met.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED with 3-5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, management, or the waste industry
    OR
    Associate's Degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, including routing, coaching, and employee supervision
  • Knowledge and practical application of Smith System and/or Decision Driving principles preferred
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, ANSI, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Driving record that meets company and insurance requirements
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proven customer service and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage multiple priorities
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends, and remain available for operational needs
  • Professional, positive attitude when interacting with employees and customers
  • First aid knowledge is a plus

  • Spend the majority of the workday driving and working outdoors in a field environment
  • Work alongside drivers and helpers, with occasional exposure to occupational risks (e.g., cuts, burns, chemicals)

  • Comfortable working in conditions that may include dirt, odors, noise, and varying weather elements
