Assistant Regional Controller - Waste Pro (West Palm Beach)

Waste Pro is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Assistant Regional Controller to join our growing team in West Palm Beach. This role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to take on leadership responsibilities within a dynamic regional operation.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Support the Regional Controller in overseeing all accounting and financial activities for the region
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Partner with operations leadership to drive financial performance and cost efficiency
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff as needed


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA/BBA) in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; CPA or CPA-track preferred
  • 7-10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience
  • Prior experience in the waste, transportation, or service-based industry strongly preferred
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Experience supporting multi-site or regional operations in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
  • Ability to balance independent work with cross-functional collaboration in a matrixed organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Great Plains, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar)
  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, FRx, or comparable platforms
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency
  • Willingness to travel up to 25-50% within the region


Additional Responsibilities

  • Support and participate in company-sponsored training and development initiatives
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of systems, tools, and technologies used across the organization
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Controller
