The Market Development Lead (MDL)is responsible forthe growthand development of the marketto deliver the business planthroughcollaborationand engagement with Independent DistributorPartners (IDPs)andretail outlets. The MDLis responsible forestablishingstrong and consistent communicationandmaintainingcollaborative relationships with IDPs,selectretail storemanagementand keyretailerdecision makers.The Market DevelopmentLead must havestrongdisciplinedplanning skills tobe successful andaccomplishadynamicenvironmentwith ever changing technology, consumer behaviors, retail executionand the speed of consumer and shopperbehaviors retail,IDP environmentin their market.

What You Will Do...

Independent Distributor Partner (IDP)Engagement

  • The key to successful customer relationships,salesgrowthandincreasedvalue to the IDPbusiness model is collaboration and working together to support the local customers,brandsand IDP business model

  • Recommend optional resources and technology to help support the IDP's independent operations.

  • Collaborate with IDPs regarding dispute resolution to minimize conflict with retailers.

  • Act as a key liaison between cross functional partners such as Customer Teams, Warehouse Operations, and IDPs to close gaps andminimizeroutedisruptionwhile supporting and unlockingopportunitiesto maximizeIDP route health and value.

  • Inspire IDPs through engagement and build strong relationships with IDPs.

  • Conduct periodic and purposeful route consults as IDPs request support in changing retail environments, consumerbehaviorsor operationalchanges with retailers.

  • Conduct individual and groupIDP meetings tolisten, understand and supportjoint business planning ideas that canbenefitthe IDP and the total marketto drive share and growth of the brands.

Retail Development

  • The key to successful retail developmentis driving priority management and organized principles acrossexecuting theportfoliobusiness planto deliver the sales plan for theweek, period and quarteracross retailerkeyevents andcompression selling.The primary responsibility is to drive base and incremental growth for theportfolioleading to share growthand IDPvaluefor thebusiness model.

  • Balance and prioritize total market health and developmentacrossselect retailers,identifyincremental salesopportunities,andprioritizeretailer concerns.

  • Analyze and share market conditions with IDPs, including identifying opportunities for growth and conducting optional business meetings to support the growth of the respective businesses.

  • Communicate,organizeandplan targets for distribution, merchandising, and promotional execution tomeet theretailerlevel business planby category.

  • Supportadditionalmarket call coverageand IDP engagementneeded to drive executional clarity onretailerspecific promotional events on a local basis.This includesregularcall coverage tostores and compression sellingtodistrict levelretailerdecision makers.

  • Communicate key retailer events andassociatedinventoryrecommendations orrequirements to theIDP andlocal warehouse logistic teams to ensure seamless service to retailers.

  • Evaluatecompetitiveenvironment and changing shopper habitstocollaboratewith IDPs and retail partnersondevelopingsalesplans acrossthelocal market.This could includeadditionalfixtures, displaylocationsorservice.

  • Collaborate tosecureincremental placements, point of sale and displays throughout the storein alignment with the IDP andlocalkey retailaccount decision maker.

  • Respond to all retailer concerns within 24 hours as part of the follow up process.

Business Fundamentals

  • Synthesize and interpret data to distill retailer specific requirements, base business performance, and incremental opportunities to educate IDPs on the growth potential of income and equity associated with their routes.

  • Buildrapportand trust withkey storemanagementpersonnel(multiple levels)duringvisits andthroughcommunication.

  • Facilitate speed to shelf onnew iteminnovation to meet retailer expectations.

  • Respondwith urgencyto retailer concernsregardingSKU and planogram compliance.

  • Required toidentifyand recruitpotential new IDPs for open routes and route splitswithin the Zone Market.

  • Conduct physical inventories periodicallyas required by contract and A/R requirements.

  • Communicateconsistently and professionallyretailcustomerstandards, sales opportunities and expectations on program executiontimingplanned by account.

  • Visit key accounts and stores toidentifystrengths and opportunities while building relationships with key local retailer decision makers.

  • Follow up with allservice-relatedissues generated by retailers within 24 hours to ensure that the IDP andretailerhavecommitted toa positive resolution.

  • Communicatestore required resetsfor the IDP to adjust inventoryordersandon timeplacementfor planogram integrity measurements for each storefollowing resettiming.

  • Understand, communicate, and apply the variability foreachretailer,as well asgrowth potential in different conditions across multiple classes of trade (Convenience, Mass,Grocery,and Drug, etc.).

  • Participate inspecial projectsand training opportunitiesto develop broader skills and shared experiences.

  • Communicate in an effective,professional,andorganizedmanner to adiverse group ofinternal and externalcross functionalpartners.

  • Establish, develop, andmaintainprofessionalbusiness relationships with independent third parties, retailers and IDPs as well as internal stakeholders.

  • Analyzeand synthesizedata from multiple complex sourcesin order toassess and effectively communicatebusiness goals, strategies, andobjectives.

  • Solvetime management andcomplex problemswhile prioritizing andmaintainingfocuson the customer and IDPs to deliver the sales and operational objectives.Follow up isacriricalskill to ensure results are delivered in an organized and priority order.

  • Leverage technology tobe efficient and effective in makinginformed businessdecisionand cascading priorities and focustodeliverthe businessresults.

  • Leverageinformation from theSales Commercialization Center toelevate brand knowledge,consumerand shopper insightsas well as core priorities for thecompany'sfinancial goals.

  • Understand the interdependencies across different business functions and build partnershipsin order toreach winningsolutionsand build individual capabilities.

  • Requiresconfidence inpresentation skills, withcomfort in effectiveoral and written communication skills.One on one and group communicationsrequiredfor different circumstances.

  • Demonstrateproficiencyin key Microsoft platforms(including Excel,WordandPowerpoint)as well as,ageneral aptitude to use technology (Internal proprietarysales-related software),plusteach and support softwareroll-outsof new software modulars to IDPs.

Who You Will Work With...

Partner with Business Development Manager, Zone Sales Manager, retailers, warehouse teams and IDPs to proactivelyidentifybusiness constraints, opportunities, and needs.

What You Bring to the Table... (Must Have)

  • 3+ years of related sales or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience, or 2+ years of relevant experience combined with aBachelor'sdegree.Strong written and verbal communication

  • Ability to influence and persuade

  • Strongproblem-solvingskills

  • Strong technical and analytical skills

  • ProficiencyinMicrosoft skills including Excel and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Travel as needed, both local and overnight

  • Must be able to relocate as required

  • Must be able to work flexible hours based on business conditions and retailer demands, including early mornings, occasional weekends, and schedule adjustments needed to meet customer and Independent Distributor Partner needs.

  • Must be able to travel within the Zone to support teammates and business priorities, to corporate headquarters or regional markets for training and company meetings, and to other markets as needed to support corporate projects or business changes.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit frequently; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; and drive regularly to stores, warehouses, and hubs within the market.

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$67,000-$96,400

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
