Part Time I First Shift

Hospital Pharmacy I Corbin, KY

The pharmacy department works to achieve optimal medication use and patient outcomes in a collaborative, patient-focused environment. Pharmacy is responsible for the storage, preparation (including sterile compounding), distribution, and dispensing of medications 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Pharmacy utilizes automated dispensing cabinets and barcoding to enhance patient safety and operational efficiency. Inpatient pharmacy clinical services involve pharmacists working directly with healthcare teams to optimize patient drug therapy by providing drug information and therapeutic monitoring.

Description:

  • Schedules for initial and follow-up appointments.
  • Ensure appropriate consents are signed.
  • Prioritizes workflow by patient impact.
  • Performs daily temperature checks.
  • Provides the pharmacist with clerical assistance.
  • Receives and manages referrals.
  • Registers/checks-in patients and notify the pharmacist they have arrived.
  • Politely and efficiently greet patients and transfer them to the room.
  • Performs finger stick and point-of-care testing per facility protocols.
  • Accurately and efficiently obtains medication history.
  • Provides appropriate documentation as required.
  • Completes benefit investigations to verify patient eligibility for prescribed medications.
  • Assesses requirements for the authorization of medications and maintain knowledge of payer formularies and reimbursement.
  • Supports third-party authorization processes and obtain appropriate overrides for new patients.
  • Maintains accurate insurance information and monitor prior authorization renewal needs to avoid gaps in medication therapy.
  • Identifies financial assistance options to maximize copay savings and increase therapy adherence.
  • Facilitate enrollment of patients in patient assistance programs and assist with gathering appropriate documentation.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 6 months of hospital pharmacy experience required.
  • Required Kentucky Board of Pharmacy registration certificate for Pharmacy Technician.
  • Must obtain BLS within 6 months.
