Instructional Designer (Part-Time)

Join our Talent Development team at IDEXX, where we are building engaging, scalable, and inclusive learning experiences for employees across the organization. As an Instructional Designer, you will design high quality learning solutions that support enterprise programs while also contributing to reusable tools, templates, and standards that enable efficiency and consistency at scale.

This role goes beyond content creation. We are looking for designers who think consultatively, design with reuse in mind, and are comfortable working within a broader learning ecosystem to deliver the right learning experience at the right time.

**Lead candidate identified** Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), Program Managers, and stakeholders to analyze learning needs, clarify business goals, and recommend rightsized learning solutions.
  • Design and develop engaging, learnercentered experiences across multiple modalities, including:
    • Virtual InstructorLed Training (VILT)
    • InstructorLed Training (ILT)
    • Blended and experiential learning
    • Microlearning
    • Video and multimedia content
    • Infographics (static and interactive)
    • Animation and visual storytelling assets
  • Create highquality learning deliverables such as participant guides, facilitator guides, job aids, assessments, and digital learning assets.
  • Design and maintain reusable learning templates, toolkits, and standardized assets (e.g., PPT frameworks, facilitator guide templates, job aid formats) to support efficiency and consistency across programs.
  • Apply instructional design best practices and adult learning principles to ensure learning solutions are effective, practical, and engaging.
  • Partner with stakeholders to challenge assumptions and help prevent overcustomization by recommending scalable or selfservice alternatives when appropriate.
  • Develop assessments, practice activities, and evaluation methods to measure learning effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
  • Use learner feedback, evaluation data, and program insights to refine designs and inform future learning decisions.
  • Ensure all learning materials are accessible, inclusive, culturally responsive, and aligned with IDEXX accessibility standards.
  • Apply strong visual design and storytelling principles while adhering to established brand and design standards.
  • Design learning solutions that align with the broader Talent Development ecosystem, ensuring cohesion and clarity across programs and audiences.
  • Leverage modern design tools, emerging technologies, and AIassisted workflows to improve development speed, quality, and consistency.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering highquality work on time and within scope.
  • Stay current on trends, methodologies, and technologies in learning experience design and adult learning.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or curriculum development, or a bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field with equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing engaging learning experiences across digital and live modalities.
  • Strong instructional design foundation, including experience with analysis, storyboarding, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Proficiency with elearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Rise, Storyline), multimedia tools (e.g., Camtasia), and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook) and virtual facilitation platforms (e.g., WebEx, Microsoft Teams).
  • Experience creating visually polished, modern learning assets that resonate with adult learners.
  • Ability to consult with stakeholders, translate business needs into learning strategies, and recommend appropriate learning solutions.
  • Experience designing scalable learning assets such as templates, toolkits, or standardized resources.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, projectbased environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with gamification, simulations, or social learning approaches.
  • Comfort experimenting with AIassisted design tools or automationfriendly workflows.
  • Experience working within large, complex, or enterprise learning environments.
  • Interest in contributing to teamwide design standards, processes, and shared ways of working.
