Job Title: Technical Data Steward

Location(s): Dallas, TX

Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced Technical Data Steward with strong expertise in data governance, metadata management, lineage, and enterprise data cataloging. The role requires hands-on experience with Atlan or similar data governance platforms and strong collaboration across engineering, analytics, and business teams. Candidate should have deep understanding of modern cloud data ecosystems and governance best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and enrich metadata within Atlan, ensuring datasets, tables, and pipelines are properly documented and discoverable.
  • Maintain data cataloging standards, classifications, business glossary, and sensitive data tagging (PII, confidential data, etc.).
  • Define and enforce enterprise data governance policies, including RBAC/ABAC access models and compliance controls.
  • Build and maintain end-to-end data lineage for traceability and impact analysis.
  • Partner with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to improve data accessibility and governance adoption.
  • Monitor data quality standards, identify issues, and coordinate remediation efforts.
  • Support data access governance workflows and ensure secure handling of sensitive data assets.
  • Configure and support Atlan integrations with Databricks, GCP, Snowflake, BI tools, and other enterprise platforms.

Required Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Atlan (preferred) or equivalent data governance/catalog tools such as Collibra or Alation.
  • Solid understanding of metadata management, data governance frameworks, and lineage concepts.
  • Experience working with cloud and modern data platforms including Databricks, GCP, and Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of data security, PII handling, RBAC/ABAC access controls, and compliance standards.
  • Strong SQL knowledge and understanding of ETL/ELT data pipeline concepts.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Retail industry/domain experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of overall IT/data experience.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience supporting Databricks to GCP migration initiatives.
  • Exposure to data quality and observability tools such as Great Expectations or Monte Carlo.
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory frameworks such as GDPR and HIPAA.

Work Hours:

  • 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM PST.

Industry Preference:

  • Retail domain experience required.
