Job Summary Surgical Tech I- Full Time *** $10,000 Sign-On Bonus *** (Current MGB Surgical Techs NOT Eligible)Highlights of the Surgical Tech Role - The Surgical Tech at Mass General Hospital plays an important role in the operating room and is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the operating room environment, as well assists with the peri-operative care of patients. - They work closely with surgeons and nurses to ensure the smooth and efficient function of the operating room. A Surgical Tech must have a strong understanding of sterile techniques and be able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment. - Our environment is fast-paced, energetic, collaborative, and innovative. - Our patient population spans the range from neonates to seniors, with 16 services and 58 operating rooms with multiple subspecialties - Positions available across different specialties - All shifts available - days, evenings, nights, 8-, 10- and 12-hour shifts Reasons to Choose Mass General Hospital - Competitive salary and great benefits, including pension and 403(b) match. - MGH is the #1 hospital in New England based on the U.s News Best Hospitals for 2025-2026 - Subsidized MBTA pass (50% discount) - Resources for childcare and emergency backup care - Hospital paid retirement plan and tax-sheltered annuity plan. - Discounts on tickets and passes for everything from ski resorts to museums to sporting events - Responsible for assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in various surgical procedures and playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the operating room Essential Functions -Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures. -Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment required for the surgery. -Transport patients to the operating room, help with positioning on the surgical table, and ensure their safety and comfort during the procedure. -Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures. -Follow proper sterilization techniques to ensure the cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and supplies. -Maintain accurate and complete documentation of surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments used. -Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team. -Assist in preparing the surgical site by applying sterile drapes and solutions. -Secure and manage surgical drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon.
