Systems and Test Engineer

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Systems and Test Engineer to support U.S. Army Fixed Wing Project Office. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

Specific Systems Engineering and Architecture functions include, but not limited to:

• Establish and maintain strict traceability from foundational requirements (e.g., Capability Development Documents) through the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) to specific test cases and evaluation criteria.

• Perform detailed technical review, adjudication, and final approval of Systems Engineering, Architecture, and Test related Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs). Ensure contractor-delivered test procedures, raw data sets, and final test reports meet government quality standards and contractual obligations.

• Apply comprehensive knowledge of DoD Instructions to ensure Systems Engineering, Architecture, and Test strategies align with programmatic milestones and capability documents.

Specific Test functions include, but not limited to:

• Direct the development, planning, and continuous refinement of the overall Test and Evaluation Strategy. Serve as the primary author and coordinator for the Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP) and/or Test Evaluation Strategy (TES) in direct collaboration with the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC), Operational Test Agencies (OTA), and other key stakeholders.

• Serve as the primary liaison to the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC), the designated Operational Test Agency (OTA).

• Chair and actively lead Test and Evaluation Working-Level Integrated Product Teams (T&E WIPTs) and specific Test Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).

• Drive consensus among T&E WIPT members to ensure T&E objectives align with program milestones.

• Interface with Major Range and Test Facility Bases (MRTFB) and local test centers to secure necessary infrastructure, ranges, targets, and threat simulations required for developmental and operational testing.

• Develop, forecast, and manage comprehensive T&E cost estimates.

• Ensure test resourcing requirements are accurately captured in the program's Program Objective Memorandum (POM) and manage test budgets against execution metrics.

• Conduct rigorous technical reviews of all developmental and operational test plans.

• Utilize Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies.

• Establish evaluation criteria, interpret raw test data, and assess technical, schedule, and operational risks to support senior leadership fielding decisions.

Required Experience:

• MS in Engineering Discipline preferred. BS at a minimum

• 20 years of relevant SE/Test experience with MS or 20 with BS.

• The job requires on-site office work.

• Possess a working knowledge of Government policies, directives, standards, specifications, handbooks, pamphlets, as well as DoD adopted industry standards, relating to test and evaluation.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Strong planning and management skills.

• Ability to self-start with a willingness to work alone or as part of a team with minimal direct supervision.

• Must be a US Citizen and have/able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.

• Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.
