We have an immediate need for a full-time Lead Scheduling Specialist to oversee the requirements of the Statement of Work at our Wallops Island, Virginia, station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) at Wallops Island requires support in management, engineering, operations, and technical expertise for the activation, operation, maintenance, and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs. This support is crucial for all Naval Sea Systems Command and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems missions and projects conducted at SCSC. SCSC offers live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric maritime environment, aimed at developing, testing, evaluating, and conducting fleet operations and training for the warfighter.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Analyze schedule variances and recommend corrective actions.
* Identify and assess potential schedule risks and develop mitigation strategies.
* Continuously seek ways to improve scheduling processes, tools, and methodologies.
* Gathers facts, analyzes data, and prepares project synopsis comparing alternatives; recommends action and prepares specifications.
* Determines and resolves data collection problems and coordinates the work with personnel.
* Adapts operational and test approaches successfully used in precedent systems.
* Performs research documentation development.
* Plans and conducts or directs personnel in performing complex experiments to test, prove or modify propositions based on research findings.
* Prepares technical reports for use by engineering, scientific, operational, or management personnel for planning, or by personnel in technical services activities.
Travel
* Occasional travel up to 25%.
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required
* Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
* Must have at least seven years overall experience with AEGIS or SSDS combat system baseline configurations, to include supporting elements and equipment, communication systems, and a good understanding of the interdependencies and interfaces associated with these systems.
* Must have at least five years' experience in the de-confliction of complex events and shared equipment; concise and accurate understanding of items that impact current and future scheduled events.
* Must have three years' experience utilizing the scheduling tool.
* Ability to generate high-level and detailed projections.
* Ability to forecast complex schedules.
* Proficiency using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) along with other database programs.

Qualifications
* Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired; however, candidates eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. The selected candidate will receive a contingent offer if they do not hold an active clearance. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.

* Must maintain the capability to communicate with their supervisor or manager when not in the office.
