In the role of Safety & Health Specialist II, we'll count on you to:
Oversee and enforce Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance across construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring contractor adherence to EHS programs, site-specific safety plans, and regulatory requirements while maintaining a safe work environment for all personnel.

This position has coverage of five locations throughout the Hudson Valley, NY Area. (High Falls, NY, Gardiner, NY, Town of Yorktown Heights, NY and Pleasantville, NY.)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Familiarity with working alongside multiple contractors across various locations, with a strong understanding of BEDC safety requirements and protocols for both general and electrical contracts.
  • Enforce EHS compliance and authority to stop work if imminent risks to life, property, or operations are identified
  • Monitor contractor adherence to EHASPs, JHAs, and contract safety requirements
  • Provide and oversee a qualified EHS Officer (EHSO) to manage daily safety operations
  • Review and approve EHS submittals including safety plans, hazard analyses, incident reports, and environmental management plans
  • Conduct daily site inspections and document/report non-compliance
  • Track and manage corrective actions, near misses, incidents, and safety performance metrics
  • Lead incident investigations and perform root cause analysis
  • Submit daily, monthly, and annual EHS reports and ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., hazardous waste, EPCRA, confined space)
  • Support audits, assessments, and continuous improvement of EHS programs
  • Coordinate third-party air monitoring for asbestos abatement as needed
  • Assist in development of site-specific safety plans/programs, Job Hazard Analysis and other administrative functions in support of project/office SH&E requirements
  • Have a working knowledge of SH&E regulatory codes to include both federal and state and be able to support SH&E training as part of company and client requirements
  • Have a working knowledge of company SH&E websites, processes and procedures such as use of company's incident reporting system, WorkCare and other SH&E department policies and guidelines in support of SH&E requirements within an office and field environment
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction EHS management
  • Strong knowledge of EHASPs, JHAs, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Ability to lead safety oversight, reporting, and incident investigations
  • Relevant EHS certifications and completion of required EHS training programs
  • Certification in one or more SH&E fields (Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS)).
  • Previous SH&E work experience with construction, DOT, Oil and Gas, and/or A&E firms

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Technical degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or closely related field
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in Safety Health and Environment field
  • Certification in one or more SH&E fields such as (Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), (GSP) Graduate Safety Practitioner, or equivalent SH&E Project/Program Management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA and ANSI regulatory standards
  • Knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software
  • Team-oriented with proven oral and written skills to support company SH&E policy and procedural requirements
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
