The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading the organization's procurement and purchasing functions in support of operational, quality, and customer delivery objectives within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role oversees the acquisition of raw materials, machined components, electrical components, tooling, outside processing, and production-related commodities while ensuring compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and aerospace industry standards. The Purchasing Manager leads the Purchasing team and is responsible for supplier performance, material availability, cost control, and supply chain risk mitigation. This position partners closely with Planning, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to support production schedules and customer commitments, with potential for broader materials and planning responsibilities as the organization evolves. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead daily Purchasing operations in support of aerospace manufacturing requirements.
- Manage procurement activities for raw materials, components, tooling, hardware, and outside processing services.
- Develop sourcing strategies that support quality, delivery, inventory, and cost objectives.
- Lead supplier selection, RFQ processes, negotiations, and supplier performance management activities.
- Monitor supplier performance and coordinate recovery plans for shortages, late deliveries, quality issues, and capacity constraints.
- Partner cross-functionally with Planning, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to support production and customer delivery requirements.
- Support inventory management and material planning activities to align supply with operational demand.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 requirements, customer flow-downs, FAR/DFAR requirements, and company procurement policies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Buyers and future purchasing/materials personnel.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on supplier performance, lead-time reduction, cost savings, and purchasing efficiency.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing activity, supplier performance, and reporting metrics.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards in all supplier and business interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive purchasing, supply chain, or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Previous leadership experience managing Buyers or Purchasing personnel preferred.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, inventory management, forecasting, and supplier management processes.
- APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Familiarity with AS9100, FAR/DFAR requirements, and aerospace compliance standards preferred.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands

Pay Range
Position is budgeted for $130,000 to $160,000 annually. Other
