General Job Description Job Description We are seeking a motivated Electrical Intern to work alongside licensed electricians on residential electrical projects throughout the Columbus, Ohio area. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in residential electrical systems and is ideal for students or individuals pursuing a career as a residential electrician. The Electrical Intern will assist with installations, repairs, remodeling projects, and service calls while learning industry best practices, safety standards, and residential electrical procedures in a real-world environment. Responsibilities Assist licensed electricians with residential electrical installations, repairs, and upgrades Support wiring of new homes, remodels, and residential service calls Help install outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, ceiling fans, and electrical panels Assist with conduit installation, cable pulling, and device trimming Troubleshoot basic residential electrical issues under supervision Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines Maintain tools, materials, and a clean, organized job site Learn to read and interpret residential electrical layouts and diagrams Communicate professionally with team members and homeowners when needed Perform other related duties as assigned Minimum Education None Minimum Years of Experience 0-2 Specific Qualifications Qualifications Enrolled in or recently completed an electrical, technical, or trade school program preferred Strong interest in residential electrical work and skilled trades Basic understanding of electrical tools, materials, and safety practices is a plus Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn Must pass a background screening and have a clean driving record Reliable transportation to residential job sites throughout the Columbus, OH area Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces Comfortable working in residential construction and remodeling environments, both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions Ability to safely operate hand and power tools while following OSHA and company safety standards Exposure to dust, noise, electrical systems, and active job sites License Required Yes Job Locations US-OH-Columbus Company Overview IES Residential, Inc. is one of the nation's largest and most respected electrical, plumbing, HVAC, solar, and cable solutions providers for single-family homes and multi-family complexes since 1973.
