JOB SUMMARY: This is a skilled journeyman level position with a working knowledge of the National electrical code that is responsible for the installing and maintaining of all city electrical infrastructures which includes but is not limited to street lighting, traffic lighting, Airport lighting, HVAC & R and all city owned facilities. This position will require the ability to install and maintain series and multiple street lighting circuits. This position is considered essential personnel and must be able to respond to emergencies outside normal business hours as necessary. ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN I

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs manual duties pertaining to locating, installing and maintaining street lighting and traffic control devices, commercial and industrial electrical systems.
- Performs well-defined trade tasks at the journeyman level on occasion under direct supervision.
- Assists in the constructing of and maintenance of series and multiple street lighting systems involving live circuits ranging from 0-12,470 volts and assists in maintaining traffic systems and HVAC/R systems in city facilities.
- Performs labor duties including but not limited to, digging pole base holes, trenches and other duties for installation and repair of the electrical equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining truck stock and cleanliness with the assistance of the lead technician.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with City officials, co-workers, vendors and the general public.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES:
- Valid Maryland Driver's License or equivalent from other state with satisfactory driving record. The license and satisfactory driving record must be maintained during the course of employment.
- Maryland Approved Flagger Program Card or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
REQUIRED SKILLS (Communication/Language; Mathematical; Computer; etc.):
- Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and materials of the trade.
- Knowledge of the N.E.C. Codes.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to operate 130' lift.
- Ability to climb extension ladders up to 40 feet.
OTHER DESIRABLES:
- Valid class A Driver's license.
ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN II $25.29/ph ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs all duties listed under the Electrical Technician I position.
- Performs manual duties pertaining to locating, installing and maintaining street lighting and traffic control devices, commercial and industrial electrical systems.
- Performs trade tasks of the journeyman level on occasion under direct supervision.
- Assists in the constructing of and maintenance of series and multiple street lighting systems involving live circuits ranging from 0-12,470 volts and assists in maintaining traffic systems and HVAC/R systems in city facilities.
- Performs duties of like scope and level for electricians under their direct supervision.
- Performs labor duties including but not limited to, digging pole base holes, trenches and other duties for installation and repair of the electrical equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining truck stock and cleanliness with the assistance of the lead technician.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with City officials, co-workers, vendors and the general public.
- Answers telephone and/or communicates information to vendors, other departments, and the general public.
- Hauls refuse, gravel, dirt, trash, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to operate 130' lift.
- Ability to climb extension ladders up to 40 feet.

ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN III $27.19/ph ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs all duties listed under the Electrical Technician II position.
- Participates in the constructing of and maintenance of series and multiple street lighting systems involving live circuits ranging from 0-12,470 volts and assists in maintaining traffic systems and HVAC/R systems in city facilities
- Operates fault finder, locator equipment OHM meter, volt meter, AMP meter and all testing equipment to diagnose system failure's.
- Operates a 130' lift to maintain stadium lighting.
- Sets up work zone and pedestrian controls; flags, traffic as required.
- Participates in the construction and maintenance of underground and aerial electrical systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Two (2) years of related experience. A combination of relevant education, experience, and/or training may be substituted to meet this requirement.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES:
- All requirements as listed under the Electrical Technician II above.
- Maryland Approved Flagger Program Card. The employee must maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
- Valid Class B Driver's license with satisfactory driving record that meets insurability standards of the City's insurance carrier is required. The employee must maintain the license for the duration of their employment.

ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN IV $29.23/ph ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assigned to the department stand-by. Covered during nonworking hours for a week at a time, several times throughout the calendar year. Reports to work in the event of a departmental or city-wide emergency.
- Performs all duties listed under the Tech III Electrician position.
- Installs and maintains series and multiple street lighting systems involving live circuits ranging from 0-12,470 volts maintains traffic systems and HVAC/R systems in city facilities.
- Installs wood poles, transformers, regulators, racks, oil switches, cut outs, fuses, insulators, bushings, splice kits, install aerial and underground wiring.
- Diagnoses and repairs malfunctions and makes connections and energizes live circuits.
- Construction and maintenance of underground and aerial electrical systems.
- Performs electrical maintenance and repairs within confined spaces.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- At the discretion of the Superintendent, one the following may also be required depending upon the area of specialization assigned under this position; 4 years of experience in traffic control systems; 4 years of experience with high voltage electrical systems
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES:
- All requirements as listed under the Electrical Technician III above.
- Maryland State Traffic Control Manager Certification. The employee must maintain the certification for the duration of their employment.
- At discretion of the Superintendent, the following may also be required; CFC card for refrigerant.
