Work Type: Part Time (two shifts per week)

Shift: Shift 2/11:00:00AM to 11:30:00PM

Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate:$20.00 - $23.50 / hour

The Emergency Department is seeking a candidate with a strong clerical background for the Patient Care Liaison (PCL) role. This position supports daily operations by serving as a key communication and coordination resource for medical staff, patients, and families. The ideal internal candidate demonstrates strong communication skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a consistent focus on patient experience.

Schedule:

Must be able to work a rotational/variable schedule two days per week including every other weekend and every other holiday.

Key Skills & Responsibilities:

Communication:

  • Communicates clearly, calmly, and professionally with medical staff and patients
  • Demonstrates strong active listening skills and appropriate phone and in-person etiquette
  • Maintains a patient- and family-centered approach at all times
  • Utilizes conflict resolution skills to address questions or concerns effectively

Organization & Multitasking

  • Manages multiple priorities simultaneously, including phone calls and requests from medical staff
  • Handles frequent interruptions while ensuring departmental needs are met in a timely manner
  • Maintains professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations
  • Uses computers and electronic health record systems appropriately
  • Performs a variety of clerical and non-clerical duties in support of nursing unit operations

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in one or more of the following settings:
    • Healthcare administration/clerical role
    • Medical office
    • Hospital environment

Preferred Experience Includes:

  • Medical Receptionist
  • Unit Secretary
  • Patient Access Representative

Summary

Serves as a liaison between the patient, family, hospital staff and physicians to ensure a favorable patient experience and efficient coordination of unit flow. Responsible for a variety of clerical and non-clerical duties that support the overall operations of the nursing unit as well as the optimal delivery of care within the health system. Routinely engaged in identifying, elevating and providing alternative solutions to challenges to appropriate personnel. Provides timely information to decision-making personnel.
