CNC Maintenance Technician

As a CNC Maintenance Technician, you'll have the opportunity to help shape the future of our company, working on state-of-the-art CNC Machining equipment and supporting the growth of the business.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance on CNC horizontal and vertical lathes, CNC horizontal and vertical mills, and manual lathes and mills per OEM specifications and internal PM procedures.
  • Inspect, lubricate, adjust, and replace mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components including spindles, ball screws, servo drives, way covers, tool changers, and coolant systems.
  • Calibrate and verify machine geometry, tool offsets, and axis alignment using precision measuring instruments; document findings and corrective actions.
  • Identify wear patterns and failure trends; proactively communicate findings to supervision and recommend maintenance intervals or component replacements.
  • Maintain accurate PM records in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), including parts used, time spent, and equipment condition notes.
  • Perform minor CNC control troubleshooting and coordinate with OEM technical support or controls specialists for complex electrical/software issues.
  • Drain, clean, and refill coolant tanks on CNC and manual machining equipment per scheduled intervals or as directed.
  • Monitor coolant concentration, pH, and biological contamination levels; adjust concentration as needed using refractometer and maintain logs.
  • Properly dispose of spent coolant in accordance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and company procedures.
  • Inspect and clean chip conveyors, sumps, and filtration systems associated with coolant delivery.
  • . Assist the furnace maintenance team with scheduled PMs on heat treat and annealing equipment as requested, including thermocouple checks, door seal inspections, atmosphere system checks, and controller calibration support.
  • Support troubleshooting activities and repair tasks under the direction of the furnace maintenance lead or supervisor.
  • Assist the facilities team with general maintenance tasks including plumbing, compressed air systems, lighting, HVAC filters, and building infrastructure as workload allows.
  • Respond to priority work orders as assigned when not engaged in scheduled PM activities.
  • Participate in facility improvement and 5S/Lean initiatives within the maintenance department.


Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED; vocational/technical degree or completion of an apprenticeship program in industrial maintenance, machining, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years focused on CNC machining equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience performing PMs on CNC lathes (vertical and horizontal) and CNC mills (vertical and horizontal).
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as they apply to machine tools.
  • Experience with coolant system maintenance, concentration testing, and coolant changeouts.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, test bars, levels).
  • Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Basic computer skills; ability to use CMMS software for work orders and documentation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience maintaining Mazak, Haas, Okuma, Doosan, or similar CNC platforms.
  • Familiarity with heat treat / furnace equipment maintenance in an aerospace or industrial environment.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management system requirements as they relate to equipment maintenance.
  • CMMS experience with systems such as Infor EAM, eMaint, or similar platforms.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 General Industry certification.
