The Resource Planning Structure & Analytics Principal serves as the lead owner of Cleco's resource planning modeling, analytics, and data management framework. This role is accountable for establishing a defensible, repeatable, and well-controlled analytical foundation for resource planning decisions, including Plexos model development, scenario analysis, assumption governance, output validation, and translation of complex modeling results into actionable portfolio insights. The role supports Cleco's transition from ad hoc planning analysis to a structured resource planning function capable of supporting IRP development, LPSC requirements, MISO-related planning needs, and major capital decisions. Key Responsibilities
Champions a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, employee development, sense of belonging, customer service, and operational excellence. Own and govern Cleco's resource planning modeling framework, including Plexos model structure, assumptions, scenario setup, version control, output validation, analytical evaluation and reporting. Advance Plexos adoption and internal modeling expertise while reducing dependence on external consultant-driven analysis in coordination with Corporate Analytics and other internal stakeholders. Establish repeatable modeling standards, data management, documentation, and quality controls to support defensible planning decisions. Lead scenario and sensitivity analysis across load growth, generation additions, retirements, transmission needs, market purchases, and alternative portfolio paths. Translate complex modeling results into clear insights, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations for Resource Planning leadership and senior management. Support IRP development, LPSC filings, MISO-related planning needs, regulatory testimony, and capital prioritization with consistent and traceable analytics. Coordinate across Regulatory, Transmission Planning, Generation Operations, Energy Operations, Fuels, Corporate Development, Finance, Legal, and Corporate Analytics to align assumptions and planning inputs. Modernize Resource Planning analytics, tools, reporting, and data infrastructure to improve transparency, speed, consistency, and decision support. Support evaluation of major resource planning decisions tied to new load, generation, fleet transition, transmission enablement, and long-term customer affordability.
Qualifications Required Education, Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Mathematics, Engineering or related field +5 years of utility experience, preferably in one or more area of expertise including: Analytics, Deal Structuring, Financial Planning (FP&A), Resource Planning, Project Management, MISO Operations Experience with Energy Exemplar applications (i.e. Aurora, Plexos) or similar applications for production cost modeling, portfolio analysis, congestion management, and transmission planning Experience in establishing processes and controls necessary to maintain the integrity of systems driving decisions within an organization Ability to negotiate and influence with a consultative approach Champions cross-collaboration throughout the Cleco organization and capable of communicating effectively to senior leadership Strong knowledge of leading practices for their practice area Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job Demonstrated ability to communicate complex results to technical and non-technical audiences Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner
